Ok…So did about 325 miles today. Heading North and staying in McAlpin FL for the night. This is thru my Harvest Host membership and didnt cost me a dime for the night.

if any of you sign up for Harvest Host please let them know I sent you. I think I get something for referrals but not sure.

knee held up well and no issues.

here are some pics of where Roxy and I are staying tonight. Nothing but the whisper of trees blowing and birds singing. About 75 degrees right now. Beautiful working farm. I prefer staying at these kinds of places. Not a KOA type setup for sure but I am not traveling with kids either.

Kind of disappointed where I am staying tonight. Lane Southern Orchards in Fort Valley GA. Basically they threw me in the parking lot. Not what I was looking forward to. Bought a good chicken sandwich here along with some roasted pecan syrup and some pecan cookie dealio that was good. Just not the type of place for me. Fair amount of rain but hot and humid. At least I get a good verizon signal. Roxy is kind of depressed on leaving LuckyStrikes place. She had the pool, pups and lots of free running room. I almost have to drag her into the 5th wheel.

oh well…Tomorrow heading to a ranch in Hayesville NC which is about 240 miles away. Looking forward to it and will plan my “assualt” on the Smokies from there. Planning on a couple of days but maybe longer if it is convenient. I want to ride the bike a bit and this place might be a good base.

So....they have rocking chairs at the front of this place and Roxy and I decided to chill and just take in the warm breezes. Nobody around except for me in the far corner, the vet in the middle and the couple in the opposite corner of the lot from me. We couldn't be more spread out.

First conversation was with a female military vet. She was a little afraid and was trying to find the best place to park. She decided on under the lights and within camera distance which she scoped out. Said her pops taught her to always be around lights. She was single but not my type at all. Little rough on the edges and larger than I like but friendly. Her name was Karen and we didn't really talk about where she came from or going. She was a little hesitant I think to discuss that. Had a little small talk and I was on my way as she parked her rig.

Second conversation was with another couple from FL. He is a retired fireman from the City of Orlando. He retired early due to Covid as he didn't want to expose his wife to it as she has had cancer. They are on their way to Glacier with stops in Yellowstone as well. They are going to be using the HH app quite a bit. They are extremely happy they are now retired and seem like a pretty nice couple. he goes to Glamis every year during Thanksgiving with his sand rail. He also checks out they Glamis message boards and posts there. I was kind of shocked to hear someone from deep in Florida heading yearly to Glamis.... Really enjoyed talking to them for about 30 minutes as I rocked in the chair with Roxy sitting quietly by with her head up. I asked him if he ever heard of RiverDaves and he said no......lol

Interesting conversations and I am warming up to just asking people how they are doing. I usually mind my own fuckin business but I enjoyed tonight.

Will have breakfast here in the AM and then hit the road. I bet their waffles are awesome.....lol

So I re-read your previous post- YOU drove 325 miles, pulling a trailer, with a dog with a "new" knee...that friggin 8+ hours by your self!!! then to end up in a strawberry farm. Dude, your the bionic traveler, I used to hate driving to the river and it was a 4-5 hour haul. Bet the Roxy dog slept most of the way:)

Pretty much.....lol When I traveled with my wife at the time she would go sleep in the RV as I drove....she would wake up and say "We're in another fucking state?" No issues with the knee. I drug Roxy with Cosamine or whatever that is. It literally drugs her and helps her joints :) WIN WIN

Glucosamine? I've been taking it every day for years. Kinda wish it would drug me.

So…made it about 240 miles to the place I am staying in Hayesville NC. Was going to stay two nights and plan the Smokies adventure but when I saw all of this coming in I decided to stay for a week. Tons of good riding around here with small towns. I guess its kind of the base of the Appalachians. Absolutely stunning landscape out here with tons of green and mountain roads.

here is where I am staying:
Walnuthollowranch.com

they have a complete selection of beef, pork and chicken here at the ranch. I am going to pick up a rib eye and cook it on the BS.

the temp is about 73 and drops into the 50s at night. Perfect!

one of the owners Brian moved out here from Petaluma in N CA and absolutely loves it. We talked a bit and they have more fresh slaughtered beef all good come Thursday. I gotta try out these cuts here.

anyhow…lots of trails to walk here on the ranch and the swimming pond is right behind out trailer. Roxy is going to dive bomb it first chance she gets. Lol

there is a beautiful river close by which we will go check out.

hoping to get some good riding in over the next few days.

going to get some good nights sleep out here for sure.

oh…and they have great Verizon svc here so I am good for streaming as well.

Had some tasks to do yesterday and the fridge has been acting up not cooling but the freezer is so no bike ride yet. Tried a few things with a little luck but still not as cold as I want it. Have a mobile guy coming out today to assist so I am hoping for a minor fix.

while out yesterday got a burger at a Hardees. Hard to understand people out here. Lol

yesterday I bought one of their rib eyes and some fresh farm eggs. Fixed the steak on the BS and I have to admit it was an awesome steak. Pricey but great flavor. Will try the eggs today or tomorrow.

going to try to ride the bike today. These are some pics from our walk this AM around the property. Not a bad way to start the day ;). By the way I thought ranch hands got up early? I am up and around hours before I see anybody.

with me staying in such beautiful areas its hard to say. I am a pretty simple guy so for me I can adapt where ever I am. Alva FL had some reasonable properties for sale. I have to take into consideration my son and grandsons as well with them still being in CA.

i am going to be out and about hopefully today and will keep an eye out for real estate for sale.

too early with lots more places to visit for and conclusions.

they allow you to catch and release in the fishing pond which has bass. No pole with me ;( There is another pond with the dock for swimming. I may let Roxy in there today.

With no one around, does your Dog NEED to be on the Leach? So Beautiful, hard to understand why People put up with City Living?

I always have her on leash......they have electrified fences out here. If she headed towards the cows to hang out with them (she would do that) she will get shocked. I don't let my dog go off leash unless I am at a totally secure place like LuckyStrikes.

I should have grown up in the country....red-fuckin-neck at heart

Having grownup in So Cal we have found rural America so much more appealing. Maybe our age and the ability not to have to work. But getting out and experiencing the beauty of this country has been eye opening. Oh and chasing awesome weather is another plus. I have not worn long pants in 3 yrs

private places. I think i paid 129. Which included golf courses, museums, pubs, farms and wineries for a year. Basically 99% without hookups and just intended for one night stays. No charge but the suggestion is to spend $20. On whatever they sell. The Haystack place had nothing to sell and told me to just enjoy the property.

the one I am at now also has a few hook ups they charge for. When I saw the property and area I decided to pay and stay a week.

i use it mostly when getting from point A-B but when you find a place like this you want to stay. ALWAYS give a review on where you stay

if any of you join Harvest Host please shoot me a PM so I can put it in to get some referral credit.
