nooooooooo, it was looking sooo goooood... until... wtf happened?
It was actually still a great day. Broke down at 3 dunes. Floated and drank beers until tow showed up and drug us to cat tail. AJ brought the trailer up to grab us. Now he has the boat and will fix. Hopefully motors not hurt.

Damn!!, if this one of the Main streets, they sure do not keep the weeds under control. Looks terrible, sure not the Picture I have always had of there. You keep dashing my Mental Picture.☹

I will try to improve on my photo skills and post better images of the islands. LOL

Fuckin punch it! 😎

Funny right after this pic there was a McLaren and Aston Martin getting on the freeway. I bet they were out and about just because there were not a lot of cars on the road these day.

While floating and broken.

lost the impeller causing header to get crazy hot which burned the rubber coupler between the header and the exhaust tip. Little fire. It’s at Barrett now.
Luckily they exhaust is above the waterline, years ago I stopped to help a guy who was floating outside steamboat in an older nordic. As i drove by i saw both bilge pumps wide open dumping water. I pulled up to help and at first the guy refused and told me he was an engineer and he just lost the impeller, but when i showed him that his manifolds got so hot that his piping from manifold to tip had melted and thats where the water was coming in he changed his mind. I did my best to slow it with duct tape but ultimately he needed an additional pump and a tow.

Before that i hadnt ever seen an exhaust system get soo hot to melt the tubing and flapper on an exhaust

Cheating a bit here....not current, but circa 1965. That’s my mom in our Racing Chris at Lake Arrowhead. Loved sitting at the transom with my brother.

One of my favorites of all the Chris Craft my dad, along with his best buddy, used for water ski racing at Arrowhead, Catalina ski race and at Mead during the mid-50's.
Was mahogany with a bleached blonde center racing stripe and powered with a hemi. In fact, it was the original (For us at least) TABOMA.
Later sold to a racer lady Dentist at Arrowhead and a year later ended up, now driving a lighter Higgins, in an all out "Do or die" duel racing for the finish line at the 56' Lake Mead Overton ski Race.
By Due or Die, I mean the Chevy in the Higgins, which finally edged out the Racing Chris for the flag, but ground the lobes off the camshaft after a liberal application of ether starting spray (Juiced the damned thing ) sprinting for the finish --- then spent most of the night replacing the cam for the next day's race, which required a buddy to race to LA and back to acquire one 😂
Got Johnny Carson up on doubles behind it ---- which I had on 8mm film, but alas, all the boat pics and ski racing movies were lost in an 07' wildfire. 😖

Needed a mask and snorkle sitting in the back seat on a day with any breeze but as a kid, I loved it 😁

Big thanks for posting that, brought back a flood of long ago wonderful memories 👍👍😁

Horseshoe Dam spillway.

No tour necessary, you can just go right up.

I just googled it. Too bad it is east of Phoenix. Makes it a longer trip to get to. But it is on my list of things to see. Thanks for sharing it!!!!

Taboma that’s quite a list of accomplishments and experiences behind a Racing Chris! Thanks for sharing.

All I can claim is learning how to get up on a single Velmar at 9 years old in Emerald Bay. By the time we joined the Ski Club my dad had moved on to a Mandella.

This past weekend in Laughlin. Place was looking pretty empty.

2.5 hours out on desolate roads today on my road bicycle. Some snow, some sleet, some wind. Burned around 1700 calories and hit almost 53mph. haha. Fastest I have ever been on my bike was about 61.

Did 4.5 hours in my gravel bike between Sat and Sun. Really trying to drop some pounds and get in to fighting shape again.

And rode with my wife for a bit too.

This trail is a little radical for gravel bikes and mostly used by MTB but I still knocked it out!
