Was a screed man yesterday on the paving machine. Little experience on screeds and adjusting is done by turning the screw (lever). This one has automatic system but still needs someone to operate it. It was a learning experience having to remember sequence of switches and buttons. Don't have to use the screws when using the auto system. Pretty neat to experience and very appreciative for the opportunity. That's not me in the picture.

Where are you at?
We have never met, but I’ve been out here for a week sellin beer and vacation last few days.
I’ll bet you would have had a beer with me at any of these spots…
Chez
Shige’s
Dixie bbq
Pints and Jiggers
Tropics
Sky Hawaii
Side Street
Growlers
Black Shamrock
J Dolans(both)
Smith and Union
LuLu’s
Appetito
Rainbow Drive inn
Cinnamon’s
Aiea Bowl

And that’s just the places I ate and drank at, as I remember.
Next trip, probably April I’ll let you know I’m on the way.
Be great to meet you!
Dave

I go so many places every week/day with my job I am not in the habit of taking pictures of my food, I did shoot a few in my favorite places just cause Buddies asked.

Cinnamon’s in Kailua and the Ilikai have the best Loco Moco on the Island(always a fan of Rainbow Deli and Sheige’s though) in my opinion. The gravy just is outstanding and the guava chiffon pancakes…wow!

Yeah we hit up about 50% of those places. It woudl be great to meet up on your next trip to the islands. You can add Sweet E’s to your list of places. They do a good breakfast in Kapahulu. Then there is Koa Pancake House. There are A few locations. I typically need a nap after going there for pancakes. We like the blueberry with a omelette.

Hanging out in West Hollyweird. I was here till 1900hrs last night, gonna be stuck till tomorrow. The contractor is building a 4 unit housing project with modular construction, and thought it would take two days to place 16 mods. Yay me!! Lost my reload for tomorrow, Donna hit them for detention for sure. They seem to be able to do 4 a day, not 8. nothing Like navigating sunset strip while 85 feet long…

@HNL2LHC @Dan Lorenze @MissB

Thanks for the kind works. Overall I ended up moving 10,820lbs from the back yard to the dump. I’d say about 10% was old wood, excess dirt and river rocks. The rest was the last remaining inventory of an educational toy store my family had run since before I was born.

We’re excited to move onto the next phase of this project. The end goal is to build out the yards in a way that my parents will be able to enjoy them as they get older.

Mario that is awesome to see that your parents were willing to let you assist them in the process. It is refreshing to create a plan that you can implement at your younger age so that they are not tied down with the past and enjoy the time that you all have together. You are awesome and your parents are thoughtful of you and the time you have with each other. Looking forward to the finished project and seeing you sit in the yard sipping your favorite drinks together at the end. We also need to have a little get together in Phoenix at some time. Life is too short not to enjoy it!!!! 👍

Thanks for your pictures 👍 Reading how you're apparently anxious to trade that for the barren desert.

Meanwhile, I'm gazing at your pics and feeling regret our decision to not purchase the property we'd found on the big island and relocate back in 95'. Sure, we got there, we had a picnic on the property, then the following day when we went to sign the papers we started finding reasons or perhaps excuses not to, and didn't.
Regardless if our concerns were valid or we simply chickened out, we haven't been back since.
We came home, sold our sports fishing boat, and bought in Havasu instead.
Guess we should go back, but considering we have zero desire to fly in today's unfriendly skies, maybe we'll have to take a big boat. 😁

It really is not that bad to fly if you go in eyes open. As for Hawaii, living and working there. You don’t spent time enjoying what there is to offer. Only since spending time in Havasu and making the time with the wife to vacation during my travels back to Hawaii has it been a bit more enjoyable.

We were staying in Buellton but were told we had to go to the original one in Casmalia, so we made the drive to the middle of nowhere.

Service was over the top good. Fun night.
My daughter and a crew from Heavy Transport stopped there after dropping off some windmill towers in Lompoc. She said the food was good and like you said in the middle of nowhere. We have eaten at the Buellton location and we had a great dinner.

I'm surprised how many full time lake havasu residents and business owners I've met that no longer even own a boat, or if so haven't used it in years.
But no more than I am of ourselves, living here in San Diego and yet only being reminded of all the various events, recreational activities and theme parks when I read about them here on RDP. A few years ago we went with our adult kids and grandkids to the San Diego Zoo, hadn't been in well over 20 years. We can see the San Diego Zoo Safari Park from our front deck, but I bet it's been 20 years for that venue as well.
We live and work here, but play at Havasu. So yes, I get it. 😁

I really don't like to fly either. I am in El Paso right now. Had to come help my son with some stuff. The flights and airports were pretty good. Flew American. Fly home tomorrow, so I hope it goes good as well.

We had gotten complacent with San Diego as well. A couple of years before we left, we made it a point to go and do something on Saturdays. Wife said people save all year to come here and all we have to do is drive for half hour to and hour. We did the zoo, wild animal park, seaworld, go have lunch at the beach etc.. Really enjoyed it.

"Complacent", is I believe, the key word.
When we go to Havasu, we're going, going, going, like a pair of Energizer Bunnies.
First the work priorities, trying to hustle to get those knocked out in order to earn play time (Yeah, it's some crap my ole man instilled in me --- I can still hear his words bouncing around my brain "We Play When the Works Done" --- little did my young developing mind realize, the f*cking work is never really all done 😖) --- but we get it done enough and it's finally "Play Time". 🥳🥳🥳

And this is also right about the time my body is screaming --- Screw you, I Quit. 😞 😠
This brings me to Complacency versus Acquiescence, it's an age thing. 🤦‍♂️ ;)
