Custom Ski Tow assembly - Anyone have pics?

I want to put a custom ski tow on my vector. Does anyone have any pics of the way it’s bolted on an outdrive boat? Is it through bolted? Are the custom to each boat?

Any insight would be great.

This what we did on my Ultra. Had a removable pylon. Dana was making them back than.

I ran mine in the transom, I glassed up a piece of 2" thick mahogany under this to reinforce it, we made an aluminum insert that slides down into the hole and also one that the ski tow slides into. It's mounted to a piece of aluminum angle that is bolted to the transom thru the pillow blocks. I cut the tow and angled it to follow the transom.

Unfortunately my hatch isn’t flat in front of the engine. I also have a secondary scoop/hatch in that area. It wouldn’t work I don’t think.I need to mount it on the transom. That looks trick though. Clean install!

Thought the transmon might be the direction you were heading. I am planning to do the transom mount pylon similar to one above on my 210 but will wait till the engine is out again. Probably this winter.

I probably should have thought about it while the engine was out for the last 4 years. Lol

It’s an Afterthought. There’s a few things I’d line to redo.

Here is mine. Bolts to steering bracket on bottom of shaft and top part has that tapered piece that also bolts to bottom side of that.

It’s actually 2 different ski-tow’s, long one and short one. Solid stainless ski tow that drops thru the transom sleeve and threads into the mount off the inner drive gimbal. Just prop in and thread whatever one you need for the day. Taller one is good for skiing, tubing, flags, etc.
Lower profile one for cleaner look, tying off and when the cover is on it.

Easy to make when the motors out, not so much with the motor in. Carson made this one but I’m sure Andy Myers would make you something similar if interested.

You gotta tie it into something, otherwise it’s for looks.. if you can’t tie into the drive? Or do it like a v drive..

If you guys are running these pylons up through the top of the rear of the cap, please do yourselves a favor. Add a bunch of glass underneath the cap of the boat to strengthen that area of the hull. Even on my little 19' Schiada/Howard, that part of the hull sustained the most damage throughout the years. There were spider cracks and damaged glass about 2' out on both sides of the opening. Lots of grinding and glass work to fix that mess. After this restoration is finished, this will not be a weak point.

Has made files for HO Animal to 360’s and HO Animals to Maha Race ski too. Just take the plate off with binding and move to the next ski. Can be made out of SS or aluminum.

My 210 has the extended ski tow. It was ordered in this config from Hallett. It bolts to the connection point between the engine and outdrive as well as the transom. Its very stout.

Same aj ran my fuel lines, hydraulic lines etc all up top of transom. guess we can chop some zip ties and make room if we got to
