When I'm cruising, I am always eyeballing spots where I can hide if needed & it's paid off. We've been in some crazy ass stuff in the middle of Padre Bay back when it was pretty much full pool & could barely see across it, it was like the ocean. Came out of the cave when it was over by Gunsight Butte & all you could see were multiple storms all around you, the power plant & we were the only ones out there. Surreal. Love Powell!

Saw that same storm Monday. We were exploring in West Canyon when the wind started to pick up and we saw the clouds rolling in. Headed back to the houseboat in Last Chance Bay and we made it back with a few minutes to spare before it hit us. Was pretty fun outrunning the storm as it approached watching the lightning in the distance. Thankfully that storm kinda went around us as we only had minimal wind and rain.

Last Thursday right after we anchored the houseboat in our cove in Last Chance we had a big storm kick up and start moving the houseboat. Wind was so strong the 4 anchors we had werent holding completely so we had to use the engines to keep us on the beach. Nothing better than digging another two anchor holes in pouring rain and wind. Oh well made for another awesome trip after that tho.

That was one of the best tips I got. We had broadside 30 mph winds one evening. I turned the engines port and left them at 2,000 rpm for 15 minutes until it past. If not we would lost our starboard anchor hold.

this.
i worked the houseboat rental docks during the summer in college
the stuff I saw people try to do in the rental boats (house and runabouts), put others at risk.
the rollers in Padre Bay when it was full were 6-8 feet with some storms.
still remember some of the rescues we had to do and even today those rescues influence when and how I boat today
