Are you moving the deer to fenced acreage closer to ranch and guest houses for paid hunts?

For RDP members that don't know what a South Texas ranch looks like, check out this property. The main house is 18,000 SF, and there are other huge houses, barns, an equestrian arena, and a 5,000' paved runway on its 3,000+ acres.

It used to belong to a rich, and I mean rich, Houstonian. His son Brett was the friend of my best friend at the time, and I spent some time there. Brett's house was around 7,500 SF, with a Texas limestone exterior and giant exposed red cedar beams in the 2,500 SF great hall.

Brett weighed about 300 lbs, but good God, you should have seen his fiance. She was one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. I'm sure she was with him because of his engaging mind and sense of humor.



Crawford sold the ranch in the late 80s, and it changed hands again in 1999 as the dot com meltdown was in progress. It originally cost $30 million to build, which is $125 million in 2020 dollars, it sold for $6.9 million, just $10.8 million in 2020 dollars.

In Tx if your ranch is high fenced and it’s under MLD management, you can catch 20 dies and a buck to put in a pen for breeding. You are also allowed to buy a pen raised buck or lease one. The deer have to be released back in the wild by 10/31 the next year. It just guarantees that you have 15-20 does bred to the best buck. Fawn survival is also over a 100%. Ranches are not limited on the amount of pens. A couple bigger ranches have 10 pens to fill


As far as the ranch you posted goes. We used to catch there for the Humprey’s. They bought it from Crawford. There are truly amazing ranches out here. You would never dream of some the amazing places out in the middle of no where.

Today I'm guessing the property is worth at least $225 million.

I hired a guy to fly the helicopter from Tennessee to Lafayette. That’s his doing. I have no idea how to file one

Been a busy capture season. Caught around 700 whitetail for breeding pens. Sorry I haven’t updated this much. I will post some pictures. Mostly pictures of very big bucks.

After hurricane Laura last summer they lost a lot of caskets. They either floated up from the ground or washed out of the mausoleums. They are are still missing around 100. So we going to try to locate some of them.
