Should have taken a picture of the Old Shoe Tree, last trip before this.

I love the poem. At least a couple generations had the pleasure of Kids excitement and behaving, on the long trip for this revered activity in the middle of the night on long and lonely Rice Road.

Somewhere I've got pics of me watering it with a 5 gal water cooler bottle after the first time it was torched. Do miss it being there and only seeing a pile of dirt there now saddens me.
It was well enough know to have seen an exposé on one of those road trip tv shows with Huell Howser I think.

Office, and Gas station/Store as well for many years. Town of Rice. Site of Rice Army Airfield, one of the many airfields in Patton's Desert Training Center.
