From the window sticker this is a 6.4.

Dan was telling me about the new one though.. Holy shiznit! 400 HP / 700+ ft lbs of torque. 20 MPG, etc.. etc.. Sounds like a bad mofo.

Ok, thats a lot of HP and torque. Is it the 2011 year models that are supposed to come out with the new 6.7 or is the 6.4 the motor of the future for Ford trucks?

The 2011 model will have an all new 6.7L Diesel engine built by Ford. The official numbers were released yesterday. 390 HP and 735 ft-lbs of torque. It will be matted to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Because of the GVWR Class (over 8500 lbs) they do not release fuel economy figures, however this truck will have best in class fuel economy. A F250/350 Single Rear Wheel will get 20 mpg on the highway. Ford has a few of these trucks loaned out to "test" drivers, basically everyday guys who drive trucks, and those are the figures they are getting back from them. Pretty amazing stuff. I will putting together a write up on the truck and new powertrain for you all the read very soon.

Seems like a pretty good deal. I don't know Fords....the dash seems like old school and there is a lot of wasted space....what are those big dials on either side?

untitled.jpg

And a 3.55 rear end? Thats seem like a high ratio compared to the 4.10 rear ends I'm used to on gas Chevy 2500 HDs. Maybe the diesel has power to tow with a high rear end llike that.

I'd like to drive a Ford....it's been years and I love my Chevy 2500 HD crew cab.

The dial on the left is the electronic shift on the fly for the 4x4. The "dial" on the right is a 12v power outlet.

You're exactly right, you can put a 3.55 or 3.73 rear end on a diesel because of the higher torque and have plenty of pull out of the hole.

If you're ever in the area, drop me a line and I'll let you take one for a spin.
