The original retaining wall was a non permitted wall the builder did before I bought the house. Since it was non permitted I couldn’t add on to it to create the needed height for a pool requirement. It was either tear it out and build new or just get the easement encroachment to build new in front of it. Trust me it was a major hurdle to get it done. But I’m happy I went through the tough route to get all the approvals and permits.

You did it right!

It looks great and the trouble you had will be forgotten after it’s all finished.

Demand is very high for block walls in havasu. Delayed our new home build 3 months waiting for the guy to show up. Everyday we were told he was showing up the following week.
I like how you just did it yourself. Wish I had the time to do the same.
I am almost ready to call for Final Inspection on my 90 LF of 8’ retaining wall. What helped was I pulled my own permit, ordered all the rebar and custom block thru Hub and had it ready to go. I still had issues getting return calls and prices. Including the block guy the OP suggested on this thread. I finally got lucky that the block guy I used had another project get put on hold and he jumped on mine. But yes, very high demand for block wall guys.

It’s funny how much pride we put into our walls. 😂. I am at 12 courses also but I am waiting to get final inspection before putting on my 4” cap. Was your wall finaled?
Yes it was

looks awesome if you don't mind me asking who's doing the decking I'm getting tired of repairing the cool deck that I have down.

Brian at Desert Storm had included this in his bid. I assume it’s either his guys or subcontractors. After looking at it in detail today I really like it and it transformed the back yard.

Chuck at Arizona Designer Luxury Decks did ours 5 years ago. I don't know what his situation is now but he and his crew were excellent.

Landscaping is in. The 2nd pic is just a light shading of gravel behind the Rv garage. In a couple months that’s where the outdoor kitchen is going. It’s a fairly good size at 16’ wide and 40’ long. I’m thinking grill, sink, bar with seating facing the pool, misters...

Brian has the door alarms and will install them temporarily for inspection.

I'm sure you're mistaken....Brian would never install something temporarily for inspection

We ran it a couple weeks ago and it brought the temp up from 55 to 73. Now the outside temp overnight was 38 so it did well enough to make it swimable. I’m very happy with it. I’m looking forward to running the chiller this summer.

Is this in havasu? Yes the gates swing out and self closing. Who installed the slider alarms?
They stick on, then take them off when the inspector leaves. No child fencing required in Havasu, just the 5' walls from both sides.

Congrats on completion. Our imported tile is floating on a container ship with all the rest of the ships in the port of Long Beach. We have considered alternatives that are available but the quantities needed are not enough. We are gunited just waiting on tile.

For us we are on natural gas, dirt cheap compared to propane. Friends that live nearby can heat their pull for the weekend for about $20.

How much did the Chiller set you back? I’m having Brian build us a pool this spring and I didn’t think about having that.

The other pool thread got me thinking I never posted up the finalized outdoor pool cabana. Had Manley Johnson build the cabana. Turned out real nice. So much usable shade. The additional 4 foot overhand is really nice.
