Hi,
I buy crap from Auction Yards sometimes.
There is one of these things coming up.

Specs:

I can find a basic price range of U.S. 3-Phase Generators on line, but I have not seen any of these Chinese set-ups.
Pretty sure the one in question is the Cummins Series Model seen in the link above.

Any ballpark idea of what something like that would be worth, RE-sale in excellent Condition?

And no, it's wasn't "Looted" 🤣

Thanks

So what exactly does that mean?

Talk to me like I'm an idiot.
(It's not that far from the truth anyway)

I think I can snag it for about $2K ish.
But if I can't make atleast $4K ish off the RE-sale, then I'll pass on it.

Thank you

All of the US and pretty much everything you own runs on a 60Hz frequency, so it won't run your stuff.

50HZ is a European standard.

Can you speed it up? I know adjusting the speed of an Onan generator adjusts the Hertz up / down, but not sure if that affects the output voltage.....

Honestly not worth it. 50 hertz is going to kill whatever its powering. It's a stationary unit. Per EPA it can only operate if its bolted to a permanent slab, it can't be mobile or it's a $30k fine. It's probably not tier 4 final so a licensed dealer wouldn't be able to sell it... someone looking for that size will be serious but wouldn't want it due to being a 50hz unit. No one would risk running $20k+ 60 hertz equipment on it.

Ahhhhh,
Thank you Gentlemen.!
I done do'ed learned me something today.

I think I'll pass on it.
I'd want a quick, easy flip if I bought it, not a long drawn out sale.

Here are some pics of it.

No, but you can install a converter between it and the load. Kind of expensive.

This discussion reminds me of a candy maker that got a really good deal on some German made machinery. Well, it was a good deal till he found out that the US grid wouldn't run it. And he found that out after all the equipment was installed.

Typically no.

Every genset has two ends, the power (engine) end and the electrical end.

The (This) genset runs at a fixed speed and the frequency is built into the electrical end so you cant simply speed it up.

With some of the simple RV generators like the Onan 4000, you mechanicaly adjust the fixed running RPM with a scope on it until you see 60hz and then your good

Sure agreed you can make some adjustment, but you cant make up 10 hertz or the voltage will be off and have increase 20% over the baseline

Some older gensets have a frequency and voltage gauge right on them and you can dial up or down from the panel.

That's what I was wondering, if HZ were adjusted via engine speed if voltage would also change.
