Recently, I picked up a new to me IMCO add on steering system in really good condition to mount on the boat. There were a couple of missing parts, a ram bushing and the steering cap ram bolt, but all easily obtainable. I think it's all good to go now. I am going replace the helm and cable assembly at the same time, as it's almost 20 yrs old. The install seems to be pretty straight forward. However, I am a little nervous about drilling and tapping two new holes in the upper to accommodate the new IMCO steering cap. Stock end cap has 3 bolts and the IMCO cap uses 5 bolts. Obviously it doesn't look difficult, just wondering if anyone had actually done it and what did you use to square the holes while drilling. I talked to Ron at IMCO and he was super helpful and said it's easy to do. I have just never thought about drilling into the outdrive. More than anything else, I guess I would just like to hear from someone who has actually done it and get your thoughts.
