My son works for Ford and brought the LA press car home today.

I was surprised how “light on its feet” it felt. This one had the small motor package but was very peppy. It doesn’t drive like other Ford products. It felt sporty and very responsive. It wasn’t as big as I expected but I liked it a lot!

I gotta admit I’m pretty interested in it. I think it’s one of the cooler things to come out in the last few years.

But that soft top? That’s awful! Reminds me of a 88 vw cabrio

Not bad. That weird bump in the steering is... weird.

That appears to be a more road going model?

So here’s what bamboozled me...

There’s 2 lines. The Bronco, what you see above, and the Bronco Sport, which is really just an Ford Edge with a different body.

The real Bronco has a live rear axle, and a real transfer case. Where as the Bronco sport is like a fancy minivan.

Saw one on the road the other day. It didn’t look all sporty. Or even bronco looking Maybe just the one I saw but. No thanks.

Yea when they came out 2 years ago I knew the “sport” version was just some rebodied parts bin deal. Ford is not that great with The model branding lately...

Drove past one on the freeway.. Damm they sure shrunk the hell out of them .. things are tiny. Almost reminded me of the scions.

Ford really messed up the branding on the Bronco line if this many people are equating the shitty sport to the real one. The problem has been exacerbated by the delays in the real one being delivered so people have only seen the shitty sport.

Between that and the Mach E... dumb.

Maybe they will make a new F150 model and call it a Taurus next.

I have less of a problem with the Mach e because the regular Mustang is an established product line. I see them cutting themselves off at the knees with the Bronco because it isn't established enough for people to tell the difference.

So they actually have vehicles on the lot where you're from? Maybe it's just a San Diego thing but the lots are empty here.

The first one we got back in July was a hardtop and the speaker box carpeting on the roof was peeling. Had the wife come and check it out. Her comment was to me.. remember the Ford flex reveal? Lol

Wasn’t that a known issue which is why they’re offering free sound deadening liner now and giving those that paid for it a rebate?

Ford brought a Bronco for the Boyne Thunder Street Show. The couple that brought it toured the hole country with it. I'm one of the smallest dealers around, I have sold 20 Bronco's. I only have one scheduled so far. They now have changed companies building the hard tops, and have agreed to replace the ones that already have been delivered. Sadly in my 40 years here I have never been part of such a mess. I like the Bronco, but they need to get the train back on the tracks.

I like it. But just like the Wrangler, every mother fucker is going to have one. I dont want a car that is that common. I still dont get the jeep wave, for a car so common. Fucking things are everywhere, doesn't waving that much get old?

Bronco Sport is somewhat like a rav4 and Wrangler only if you get the Badlands trim. Huge suspension change with that. Two different models, smart marketing. All hard tops will be replaced at no charge.

You may blow a gasket when you see the new Maverick Ecar 😊

BTW - they can’t make enough Mach Es they are selling so fast.

Why didn’t they call it a Ranchero? Or Courier?

Yea I’m starting to see a bunch of Mach Es.

I don’t suppose this is your dealership? My son and I were talking about it last night when we were talking about who is selling the most trucks etc.

I recall saying to him - I saw this little dealer in Boyne City MI. that must only sell 25 - 50 vehicles a year they are so small! I took these pictures a few weeks ago while walking around town on a Sunday night.

Crazy to think you’ve sold 20 Broncos already!!

Jeep wave goes back to WW2. And yeah, now that Jeeps are now used by soccer moms the wave is played out.

Yes it is. We average 15 to 20 new and used per month when we have inventory. We have always been strong in used sales. Used sales are stinking right now along with the new. That is my Speedster on the floor. The 48 Ford was my Fathers. My sister owns that now.

WOW - What a small world.

I really enjoyed checking out your dealership - the history of your service area and the mesh of the old building with the new tech is an interesting juxtaposition that you won't see in many dealerships these days!

I can't believe there are many Ford dealers that have been in the same location as a Ford dealer for over 100 years, Congratulations!

Next time I'm in town I'll stop in and say hello:). I have friends on Walloon Lake - a few local pics in this thread from a few weeks ago https://www.riverdavesplace.com/for...-america-summer-21.237926/page-6#post-4200639

I'm pretty judgy about most of the "new" designs and rebranding I see today but this ones got potential I think. Needs larger tires and small lift to catch my eye but its close. The Jeep products don't float my boat for some reason. Are we above/ below $60K retail on this? Also.... I see some Range Rover design elements creeping over.

Two questions, how's the view over the hood ? Most modern car and suv designs are leaning towards burying you deep in the vehicle which seriously limits your ability to see close in front. The sales boys rebuttal is " No worries, it's got cameras ", sorry, not the same.
Also, what are the gun sights on the ends of the front fenders for ? I figure to aid in judging clearance, but they're not near the limit of the width or length.

My Ford Desert R&D test guru neighbor, was recently working on some big power (Wasn't at liberty to discuss which engine) Broncos under brutal heat conditions. Doing similar testing of late on the V8 Raptor they melted the key fob and when he climbed out, he left the rubber off his shoe soles stuck to the bare floor pan, he shared the pics, I couldn't believe it.

This guy is a serious off-roader in addition to his desert R&D job and he's very complimentary of the new more serious offroad editions of the Bronco. Extolling their performance at high speed over the whoops.

2 words for you... Sasquatch package.

They "start" less than 30k but I think you can get a nice one set up the way you want with bigger tires etc for 50ish.

I could see pretty well - Granted I'm comparing it to my Navigator but it had much better visibility in front than the Nav.

The gun sites are partly a design thing (IMO) but they are being shown to allow you a place to connect cables from the front of the hood to the upper part of the windshield surround to move branches etc out of the way while off roading - protect the windshield.

They spend too much time interfering with our businesses instead of worrying about their own. When was the last time they had a successful new product launch? They need to concentrate on being a manufacturer instead of micromanaging our retail operations. Of my brands Ford has handled the pandemic and parts shortages by far the worst. Luckily they have the time to share their wisdom on improving our operations.

So the Ford Flex isnt a complete rip-off of a Range Rover?
Can't answer that if it was a question. I'll give the Flex a look.... I don't see similarities frankly. I did see something close to the side shot of the Bronco on the Discovery earlier. See if you agree

I ordered my wife’s with the Sasquatch package to give it a better stance. Didn’t go with the highe end off road packages due to already having a very capable pre runner as a desert toy. But ordered every option available and came in right above $60k.

Sounds bout right..... and I see it started at ~$28K. I always consider that base price as kind of a build quality indicator. US made is coming up though.... I was in a new Escalade Uber last night and it was tight and quiet. Driver said it was ~$127K. That ain't our mothers Suburban anymore.
