I have the K-plane style Eddie Marine tabs on my boat and they are leaking from the hydraulic actuator shaft seal. My question; has anyone rebuild and replaced the seals on them? Are they easy to do, any special tools needed? Thanks.

No one has pulled these actuators apart? Well, I guess I’ll order up a rebuild kit and take a stab at it. Looks like you pull the snap ring and just pull the cylinder out?

So..... Just in case someone is in the same boat (no pun intended) with leaking trim tab actuators. Eddie Marine will fix and replace the seals for just $56 each, the cost of the seal kit.

I know that this is an old thread, but how did the rebuild go for you? Have you had any issues with the snap ring coming out since you rebuilt the trim tab rams?

I have the same trim tabs on my boat, and have been having problems with the snap rings coming out on both trim tabs. Nothing is damaged in the billet housing where the snap ring goes and the snap ring is still intact.
