First I have to thank Chet (SocalCricket) for the extremely clean El Camino that was the start of the project. Then I have to thank Jim Bassett (Bones Fab) for the extremely detailed work and knowledge to make this all happen, and Bob, the shop guy that did a lot of the work.
The start was a very clean 72 El Camino with a 350" engine and 350 Turbo Hydro trans. This all started with my wanting to add Air Conditioning (Vintage Air). One thing lead to another, so let's add power windows, and while we are at it maybe a cam so it sounds and runs good. Soooo, it has a hydraulic roller cam, aluminum heads with 2.02" & 1.60" stainless valves, new valve springs, roller rockers, Holley fuel injection, an aluminum radiator and dual electric fans, headers, A Dakota electronic analog dash, 4L60E 4 speed electronic transmission and a new 12 bolt 3.73 posi rear end to replace the old 2.73 gears. I also replaced the 18" & 20" wheels with period correct 15" American Torque Thrust mags and removed the 2" drop spindles in the front and installed stock spindles and new stock rear springs. It runs a good as it sounds. I am quite sure it would beat a stock Big Block car.
