In case anyone thinks it's just driving alone in a straight line, here's the original hondata car above a few years ago

I always enjoyed going there to watch the time trials. Shoot even the spectator cars are cool to see.

I am surprised that someone could live through that..

Also kinda surprised the #'s that you put up for the 2 liter Honda at only 150? I had a 1990 Integra with minor mods and it would tap out at the stock redline at 145'ish.. My Buddy had an Accord (automatic) that no the free way had to run at least 155.. Because he'd go buy me like we were standing still top end.

Were these speeds measured using the water pickup or the Ebay Jet Bote' method ? 🤔

150mph? That crash happened somewhere within the 180mph range. That car has ran well north of 230mph at bonneville. Remember, El Mirage is a standing start on a 1-1/3 mile on dirt.

Have to remember that's in a model A roadster with a drag coefficient of a truck with open wheels on the dirt. As you can see by the Hondata car you would never see the speed you get on the pavement.
Those cars are also Very heavy. The faster cars will check in at 4-5 k.

How's the mud this year?
In May the lake was full with some good tides that flattened it pretty nice. First round with some El mirage hp ( tailwind) several records fell. By end of first round there was a 30 mph cross and course went on hold. I left.

With the weight deal, it surprised the hell out of me. A guy up here use to run Bonneville, his 26 gas lakester had a full belly pan. The pan itself was trophy truck skidplate quality, 3/8ths plate, front to rear!

I'm going to take a guess that would be the 14th and the 15th.
But there are no dates on the schedule.I'm guessing they are waiting to see the results of the Wuhan after last week's event before they commit and give a permit.

I help build the inner fender Wells on the Beast that Studebaker. If I remember right they were made out of 125 plate.
Have to remember, things that are very heavy don't like to change direction.

November dates?
Have to remember 4 things about El mirage.
1. It's very dirty.
2. It gets very windy and dirty.
3. It gets very hot and dirty. Unless it rains, then it's wet and dirty.
4. What ever you take there will forever have El mirage dirt in it.
Leaving Sunday there were white out conditions. I dropped a pin so I could find the exit road next time lol.

I was there and had to use satellite view on google maps to find the exit road Sunday around 2:00pm. Couldn’t see shit 20’ in front of you coming off the lakebed.

Saturday afternoon the sky made for a cool background picture though.

I can sort of figure where I'm at by the ground and tracks, but then I'm afraid I'll hit one of those telephone poles in a white out! Lol

Anyone heading out next weekend? We've been planning on it but don't know if the rain is going to screw that up.
Hopefully they didn't get too much...

So far there's been no rain. Current temperature as of this post is 39°
You can get direct weather by searching"scta weather El mirage dry lake"
The weather station is a few hundred yards off the West end of the lake bed.
As far as I know my group is still all in.
Are you a noob or have you been there before?

Thanks for posting. We've been there a few times in the last couple years. My buddy is friends with one of the White Goose Racing guys.
Looking forward to this weekend!

Lots of fun last round. Patrol radios go off go crazy. Toyota Tacoma on the track coming down from the back door. All hell breaks loose, ambulances and trucks hauling ass. Guy winds up about 50 ft off the race line, just past the finish line, AS A BIKE ON A RUN GOES BY HIM AT A HUNDRED AND EIGHTY EIGHT MILES AN HOUR.
