Just picked up this pretty clean 25 daytona over the weekend , been on the search for a little over a year. I wanted something with a relatively timeless gel scheme, and stock mercury power. I know... boring. But I’m looking for turnkey reliability and that’s pretty much it.
Here’s the details
2001 MCOB 25 Daytona
Double Step hull
496 Mag
Bravo 1
26p labbed bravo prop
Almost all original
Runs in the 70’s loaded with the 26p and I couldnt be happier with that given the reliability of the 496 Mag. Maybe more power in the future...

I’m going to be cleaning it up and tightening up a few little odds and ends, as well as doing a full service before the season gets underway, stay tuned.

Chads, he’s been thinking about selling it, how did you get him to?

Yes! Him and his wife are great. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. He made sure to let me know the name doesn’t stay with the boat so a renaming is on the to-do list.

Someone stole the head unit at some point which left this broken cover and foam showing. As well as a couple of screws missing from that panel. I replaced the cover as well as through bolted that panel with new stainless hardware and new white caps. No more backing out screws.

I've been following your steering thread, first time I saw your boat, very clean, good luck with steering, sounds like you're on the right track.

Started some work on the trailer this weekend. It’s not perfect but it’s going to get me by for the summer until I can have the trailer redone next winter. The flat 5 connector had about 4 different splices from the plug to the swing away tongue bulk head and looked pretty bad although it worked. Also the diamond plate was bent up and the paint was peeling everywhere due to a bad O-ring on the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Wired a new plug on and installed new safety cables. Once I get a new brake fluid reservoir cap I’ll sand an do a final coat of paint on the tongue.

Got the boat out today with the new IMCO Ram bushings and a realignment of the steering cable guide tube. Definitely a lot better then it was but still not perfect. I see a full hydraulic upgrade in my future. Also had time to remove the name as requested by the PO, new name to come.

If your not familiar with the process of changing a boats name, I would urge you to follow Neptune or Poseidons instructions.

So as cool as tramp stamps were in the 90’s-2000’s i like the look of that clean rear transom myself.

Keep this thread alive it’s the best part of RDP in my opinion. Hell document the screw replacement, everything etc as you go, it’s honestly great going back to your own words later and seeing the work.
