Eliminator Eagle 25' vs 26', why manufacture the 25'

I don't understand why some manufacturers do this. My example is the Eliminator 25' Eagle and then they make a 26'? It allows much more room for the rear passenger so I can see why they made a 26 footer, but why continue with the 25 footer. I assume the cost is minimal if you compare them and the performance would also be pretty damn close. So what is the reasoning, anyone?:headscratch:

They probably made the 25 first, then came out with the 26 later. The money is already invested in the 25 and the molds already exist. There is no reason to stop making or offering it is a model. Also, different strokes for different folks, not everyone likes the same things in a boat. There may be some people that like the 25 better.

Yep,the 25 came first.

A foot difference may make the choice for some people also, maybe 26 wont fit the garage but 25 will? Having choices is never a bad thing to offer customers.

They never made an 18 Daytona, and as to the rest, the styling on all other models you listed are very different, and you forgot the 24,30,33 and 36:D The 23 and 24 have not been offered in years. Dont forget also we're talking over 30 years of creating new models,as far as the Daytona line.

My 98' Eagle barely fit in my old garage. I do have the swingaway tounge but that was a pain to do every time. A 26' would not have fit. Now my garage at the new house is 57' deep. :D

Is there a cut off in the length of a boat where insurance company's start to really hike up the rates? I have heard other people relate the length of their of boat to not needing the TresMartin school for insurance purposes.

I thought it was horsepower over length. Not positive though.

I know some of the safety rules change when you step up to 26' such as kids not having to wear lifevests and the kind/number of fire extinguishers you must carry.

So it is as simple as that is it...

I thought maybe I was on to some huge industry secret or something:D

Eliminator's Eagle XP line (with slightly stepped vee-bottoms) started in the late 1980s with the introduction of the 236 (23' 6" length) and 250 models. The only difference between the 236 and the 250 is that the 250 has an integrated swim step transom (Euro style) where the 236 is a flat transom. But both boats have the same length running surface (23' 6"). It's the "Euro style" swim platform on the 250 that gives it the impression of a longer hull. The 260 Eagle XP was introduced some years later and has a longer hull running surface by nearly 2-feet more than the 236 or the 250.

This was the case with AAA back in the day. They wouldn't insure over 25.

Although the 236 and 250 have the same running bottom there is about 3" difference in the freeboard which made it much easier for my wife to get in the boat off of the trailer. It was also 6-7 thousand dollars cheaper at the time. The 26 was a "lot" larger and at least 10 to 15 thousand more than the 250 if I remember right. The 230 Eagle has the helm pushed forward and will give a lot of room inside if that's what you need. There will be a slight difference in performance with no steps and the center of gravity moved forward.
