Hello all;

What are the brain trust's thoughts on brand and flavor of pellets for a pellet grill?

I want something I can reasonably get without stupid money (I will pay for quality within reason...) and I want real wood not Traeger style with "essence" added into junk.

I have had the best luck with the traeger brand....blended...from Costco....bigger, tougher bags. I like the price point...😎

Sams pellets work just as good as Trager. It’s a mixture just like the Treager pellets, only 40#s for $15.00 instead of $18.00 at Costco for 30#.

The one I like is called "Oak" and can be had for the low low cost of some gasoline and bar&chain oil. 😁

Lumberjack pellets, no fillers in these. Hickory or mesquite.

Lumberjack is hard to beat, but they aren’t cheap.
“Cookin’ pellets” work very well and are cheaper. 40lb is about $38 on Amazon.

I used Traeger pellets for years. Wish I had switched a long time ago.
I don’t mess around with flavored pellets anymore. With pellet grills IMO it’s a waste of time.
Hickory only. It burns hotter more consistently so goes further.
That’s my opinion after a decade of traegering a LOT!

These are what I’ve settled on. Excellent pellet and good value.

Check out https://bbqpelletsonline.com/
I bought bulk buy in the past and also got in on their group buys.
They have blends and 100% woods also. Pellets burn well not to fast.

If I remember right the price per bag on the 1 Ton order I did was about $11.50 per 40# bag including shipping. Bulk and group buys are shipped to Santa Fe Springs where you pick them up at the trucking co. dock. I'll look tomorrow and see if I an find my last order receipt.
