RDP braintrust question. Not sure if this will make me feel better or worse about myself lol.. But.. What did your girl say, how did she feel about you when you first started talking to each other?

Was it love at first sight? Or did she want to have nothing to do with you lol

I'm currently in the second camp with an awesome girl, but my 2 best buddies said their wife told them the same thing when they first met them (didn't like them). Thx!

My wife told her friend that I was the one for her at first sight. I was the opposite and tried to avoid her as much as possible as I didn't want a relationship. Funny how life works out as I would do anything and everything in my power for her now. It's 100% possible to perform a 180 after getting to know the other person. Known each other for 12 years, been together for over 10, and married 2.

I met my wife through my sister, I was 19 she was 16 and we hit it off right away. We both just knew we were married November 12th 1977 which was 12 days after she turned 18. Great lady and stood by me through my selfishness until I woke up, we had our only child our

To cut a long story down to nothing..I was having lunch at my friend's bar in downtown Honolulu. I made small talk she wasn't real talkative at the bar. She wasn't interested lol... I closed out, went to the bathroom, and was gonna leave..but something said no to that. I was about 8 months out of a bad breakup, and I'm hard headed..I thought she was cute in her workout clothes.. I sat back down, told my buddy I'll have one more and ordered her one too....the rest is history lol.

She thought I was probably a drunk (her words..) bc I knew the whole staff and was there on a Tuesday at lunch (I'd been going there since college, and the owner was one of my business mentors). She had stopped in bc she was waiting on the box office across the street to open up...We wound up talking, chemistry was very evident..and we swapped numbers. We went out a few days later and the rest is history. I'm one of several friends from college who met their spouses there..a lot of kids are the product of that bar. They threw us a nice party when we got engaged...whenever we go home to HI its one of our first stops.

From my experience the girls that won’t accept a good guy are a lost cause. Keep her in the lineup in case she comes around but don’t let her be your only focus.

often times your friends are the best judge. What do they think?

You want the 1st date with my wife or what I would do with the girl of my dreams? in truth we were set up on blind date type of deal at the lake with mutual friends around for an easy out if it didn’t work. That’s was 22 years ago .

So let me get this straight, you are currently in a relationship with her correct?

If so who cares what her first thought was, you took her home and now she’s yours! If she wasn’t into you today she’d be gone, and if she wasn’t into you to start, at least you know you did something right and swooned her!

Wife of nearly 30-years thought I was an a-hole when she first met me.

Still does!

But she loves me despite that quality. 😄

Met at Charlies Bar in Erenberg Az. I was on a overnite ski trip to Macintire State Park in Blythe and she was staying at friends at Twin Palms on the Calif. side but we always went over to Arizona because you only had to be 19 to drink, Got married 2 weeks later and it will be 38 years this year

She moved into an apartment above mine. I already had a gf. We became friends. Eventually we just chatted more and more, ditched the current gf on Valentine’s Day and knew she was the one.

They say you don’t find it, they find you. Pretty correct if you ask me. Everyone I know who has a story like “I went to ___ and she was hot so I got her number and asked her out” is either divorced or going to be.

I met her friend weeks before I met my wife while doing telecom contract work in Tucson. My bud Chad & I ended up renting a room in the apartment with this chick & her other friend. Tons of parties & nights out in Tucson around UofA. That’s where I first met Ariane. She walked in. I was like wow! She brushed me off for a month or so. I was very punk rock from CA she was very cheerleader from Tucson. Still the same dynamics between us. Lol!

So I finally took her to PF Chang’s and the rest is history. This was back in 1999. Married since 2002.

Short version.. Best friend invited her to watch him play soccer. Asked me to drive her to the game.😁 We ended up going on a group movie date and then her junior formal. (We were 18/16).
35yrs together, 28 yrs of marriage and 3 kids I’d say it worked out.

How could she not fall for me, took her to the Speedway races at Orange County Fairgrounds in late'76, back in the glory days of Speedway!!! Married for 42 years now. Oh, how we met, I rebuilt an outboard for her Dad and delivered it to their house.

Met for the first time for lunch after exchanging a few emails on Match. I knew he was the one the day we met. We've been together pretty much everyday since then. Together for 18, married for 15. Life is good 😊💕

Met in a bar. I just went up and started talking to her. Danced a few songs. At the end of the night I asked her for her number. When she gave it to me she said "You better call". LOL Called her the next night. Got married 5.5 years later and married 22 yrs now.

We met on Match, texted for a while and decided to meet up for Mexican food. I some how had obtained 2 copies of the DVD "Waiting" and had joked around about stories from working in the service industry so I brought her a copy to watch as she hadn't seen it. To this day she swears I did this as a ploy for us to go on a second which wasn't true. Things went well so we agreed to go a bar across the street for drinks. She got quite drunk and told me later she went home and threw up. We agreed to go dancing the next week and things went from there. Will be married 5 years in Jan and expecting our first little one. What makes the drunk part funny is my wife is not a big drinker at all and I think this is the only time in the 8 years we've been together she has done that.

As far as locking her down we had dated for a few months and went to my cousins wedding( I was the best man). Prior to meeting my wife I had been playing the field and hadn't brought a girlfriend around in a while. I walked up to introduce her to my uncle who said "I expected you to be a blow up doll." Shelley took it in stride and after that I knew we'd get married.

Our first date was Hot August Nights...sort of. I had met her at the beach, but she was seeing someone.

A month later, I stayed in Reno for Hot August Nights, with the girl I had met her through... and guess who also showed up at her place. We were both single, and we hit off before we even went out for the night, so the night out was like a first date.

We have been together ever since. That was 28 years ago, been married 24 years.

We never really had a first date. In 2001 my current wife was a friend from work, that also hung out with my wife and had play dates together everyone's kids from work. A year later my wife passed away, like a lot of people she was a big help, helping me adjust to being a single parent. Couple years later we got engaged. Practically everything we did, we did with the kids, we used to joke we were getting married and had only had one or two official dates. 17 years later, it was the best decision I ever made, I got lucky with two great wives.

Speaking of first dates" My daughter is on a first date tonight, it's after midnight should I be concerned or just go to sleep?

Go to sleep.
Just remember...Whatever they’re doing (which is nothing) they’re doing it wrong.

I forgot to mention he's a Leo so yes I was a little worried when the clock struck 1:00am. She finally arrived home about a half hour later, a little disrespectful on the Leo's part but she's safe and that's all that matters...

No first dates for me. I met my wife at a Phoenix nightclub in 1985 and never let go. Told her day one I was going to marry her as soon as she said “I know how to water ski and could back my Dad’s trailer.” I adopted her child in the picture below too. It was a package deal. The rest is history.

Met in the office in 2004. She was the business analyst and I needed her help for a fraud investigation. Would talk every so often when I needed help. Holiday Party December 2005, is the first time we talked outside the office. My admin convinced me to join the group going to the holiday party, she was taken to the party by another employee who wanted to date her. She left the holiday party with me :) The guy that took her to the party got reassigned to my department in February 2006 and resigned the day he was told he would be reporting to me. First official date was MLK weekend 2006. Married 2009.

Yeah I've been doing that deal for about a year now.

Go to sleep but tell her to wake you up when she arrives home; hold them accountable. Trust me, you will know when it's time to get worried, it's like an internal clock dealio.

Based on the responses here, CONGRATS on the new SIL!

She fell for me when I was standing on the loading dock at work with a Marlboro hanging off my lips. She only made it a week before she didn't show up for work any longer but I did manage to get her home phone number. I called her up about a week later and asked her to go to the Winter Nationals with me, Feb 3, 1985 and the rest is history...

Worked in Desktop Support at a bank and wife kept messing up her pc, so had to fix it almost daily. Anyway, asked her to dinner and after eating, we spent about 2 hours sitting on a bench talking. Our hands on each other's knees..flirty stuff. Anyway, I walked her to her car and she bro hugged me. Figured I misread the "chemistry" and figured I'd move on. Well, about 20 something years later, we are still together.

1987 me and my buddies use to hang out in the bar at Marie Calendars in Victorville on Friday nights. Well a mutual friend came one fateful Friday and brought her roommate along. I was 25 she was 18 we got her in by saying she was going to drink coke which I helped spike with CC. Called her after and we started dating, first date we went "down the hill" to dinner with a drive through the mountains. Got engaged outside the Cliff Hanger restaurant May 1988 married Sept 24 1988 three kids, six grandbabies with one on the way.

I'd like to thank the Leo for his services, wait he was with my daughter I have to rephrase that one. I'd like to thank the Leo for his services to the community and for wearing a badge that in itself earns my respect. Blessed are the peacekeepers for they shall be called the children of God...

Wife managed an office that I worked at.

First date with her was to a Sublime tribute album-release party in Long Beach.

Got hammered, then nekkid afterwards.
I was too hungover to go to the office, but she wasn’t…so my carpool buddy picked her up for an awkward ride to work LOL

I met my future wife at a house party in downtown Orange, walked in with a case of beer, and now I’m going to date myself, who has a church key? Blond slides up to me and has a can opener on a cord around her neck.
chatted for awhile asked for her number, she says if you want it you’ll find a way to get it!
Turns out one of my buddies dated her in high school which she was still in. Got the number invited her to a party the next weekend at my place. We’ve been together ever since, March 1969, married in February 71’, 3 kids, didn’t get to celebrate the 50th, the right way with all the COVID bs.

My wife had mastered what she called the geek hug. She blocks with the elbows better than some high level jiu jitsu players.

Wife and I went to school together but didn't hang out with the same crowd (I was one of the cool kids). Met up again many years later at a local bar one night and before you knew it we were out in the parking lot bumping ugly's. Been together for 30 years now. There have been challenges but we stuck it out. The best thing we ever did together was raise a daughter that is one one of the most exceptional people you could ever meet.

I met her at my best friends pool party. One of my other buddies was friends with her and brought her ( yes just friends I don’t steal girls lol). Later that night we all went off-roading and she decided to ride in my truck. We didn’t talk for about a month after that but after some interactions on social media we started dating. 7 years later, one son and another due next month we are still as happy as can be.
