I know that Chip Foose can be a pretty polarizing figure in the hot rod world, some love him and some hate him. But I just saw the wrap up video of his C/28 build and I have to say, it is one of the cleanest C10 builds I have seen in a long time. It was very surprising to me how such subtle and simple upgrades can make such a difference to the look of a truck.

Followed this build on Youtube. Love the original Z/28 302 for power. I would kill to own this ride.

Love everything except the bumpers. I know they are the Camaro part of the build but they look way to small for a truck.

The decal on that air cleaner clearly read 465 horsepower. I thought Z/28s were rated at like 375. Did the build include an explanation? 465 hp on only 302 ci would not be very streetable on motor only.

IMO...if the truck was built to be a driver, it would have been much better with a high back bucket seat / console setup instead of the low back bench. Awesome build though....

Judging from the video, and the fact that he went with the modern 5 speed, it was meant to be a driver. Also they didn't mention anything high performance. It was all done with a retro vibe. No fancy suspension or big tubs filled with huge brakes.

I think the 67-68 C10 is the best-looking truck ever built, and I'm a Ford truck guy. I had a 68.
I agree the front bumper is too lite for that truck.
Love the retro look, glad there's no LS or 383 in it.

Original 302 was only rated at 290, which was somewhat of a lie.

Whenever we build a truck, we rework the seat so it does not show in the rear window. Many sacrifices are made in lieu of aesthetics.

Yeah I hear you....I know that the aesthetics of the low back is a big deal for some but if it's really a driver that is going to see some real miles I definitely prefer the safety and comfort of the bucket / console. If you tint the back window dark enough it hides the hi back pretty well.
Some of my opinion on this comes from being rear ended in my old 56 f100, my head broke the rear window....it wasn't pretty.

Original 69 Z/28 302's made 468HP @7800 with the optional dual ram offroad intake and "offroad" cam (dyno'd by R&T on a survivor car). They came with the headers, cam, lifters, and intake/carbs in the trunk if you ordered those options.

They were rated at 290HP for insurance reasons, same as the "435hp" 427's and 454's.

Almost all of the HP Wars vehicles (Ford, Mopar, GM) were artificially nuetered to make them sellable, since the cost to insure an 7-800HP Boss 429 Mustang, ZL1 Camaro or a 426 Hemi anything would have been more than the payments....:p

I dig that he really is a Z/28 fan, since almost everyone who is runs those 67 small dish hubcaps on the 69 Rally's...;)

...and these are the risks you take when driving an older vehicle. You can make them safer, but an older truck or car will never be as safe as a modern counterpart.
