Mike King has moved to Lake Havasu and has opened up shop!

This is big news for the V-Drive seen out here! And for those that love over the top custom installations on boats!

Good to see Mike is up and running! Spoke with him a year or so ago, and he was super excited about it.

Glad to see Mike has settled in to Havasu. An awesome talent. If you want custom, he'd be the place to go. I could be wrong but I think he still has my original 24 Schiada built by Leonard for offshore racing. It's only 50 years old!

That Schiada has titanium plates / pillow blocks / plate pads.. It's getting a MONSTER Chryler Hemi twin turbo by Brummett.. The amount of power it will make will likely be unusable for that size of the boat. LOL.

Mike did an install for me on a 20' Campbell with a Banks 850HP motor. That was back in the 80's. His work was so good and I was so happy. Seeing a picture of him well, I seem to have gotten older.

Looks like he has himself one amazing "home shop" place looks huge! Absolutely nothing better than having all of your tools and stuff just a few feet from where you live, and all inside real AC.

Congrats to Mike on getting all dialed in and out of California!

One of the nicest, and most talented guys around

I have never met Mike in person but a close friend of his is a close friend of mine. Nothing but good things ever said about him. Good luck with the new shop. I believe the Orange, white and silver boat is Tony's brothers boat. Absolutely beautiful!

Who did the gel coat on this 21 schiada

This guy named Michelangelo, you might have seen some of his work on the ceiling of some old chapels in the Vatican City....

all joking aside, holy shit that is mind blowingly clean and the use of quality wood and the colors its, i'd just leave it like that parked in my living room

Swung by Mike’s today to check in and see how things are going. The Rayson Craft is pretty much done!

The owner want to take it and get it painted to add color. I think he’s crazy and it looks bad ass all white!

I’d have Bob Thompson paint the numbers and the AZ numbers on it and call it a day. If I was gonna add colors I think I’d do in one vinyl with graphics that could be changed or removed easily

That Rayson would look sick(it already is sick)with a thin, simple, metallic tangerine stripe on it.

Any update on the orange and grey Schiada with the big turbo Hemi?

Ran by Mike Kings again last week to say hello and see what the latest is in the shop!

Again this is kind of like Verns shop. There is no sign. Point in fact it’s very private and you would drive right by without ever knowing.
On the side is a 24 v drive “ring leader”. This is a winning Catalina boat and one of mikes personal boats. It will get restored someday. Smooth deck 24 because I believe it was the first one built. This boat used to be (possibly still is?) a wood deck.

So this boat is having some work done and a little upgrade to the shifting mechanism.. you can see how it is now attached to the seat snd runs back to the plates and a cantilever setup.

I’m not sure what else he changed because I got to talking to him about that shifter setup for awhile. Haven’t seen one like that before.
