40...6pm today.
How does that happen? He likely walked off the beach, heart attack? Passed out drunk? Bizarre.
Welcome home Rich.Sad news. RIP
Sad news. This year was first time in my life I experienced a leg cramp while swimming in the lake. Before that I always wandered what caused people to drown it was scary shit. Now I always swim in the lake with a life jacket or floaty that I sit on. Kids have to have their life jackets on as well nothing would ruin the spirit of the lake more than a family member or friend drowning.
Garrett was a member of the LHC paddle community and open ocean race team. I last trained with Garret in February 2021 paddling from Topoc to Rotary park. He was a strong paddler, a great swimmer and an aspiring photographer. I have not heard the details behind this tragic event and still can’t believe the horrific news. RIP Garrett. You will be missed. Paddle On.

I got a leg cramp too in winter, new years eve to be exact. We were surfing down south in Mexico near La Fonda and luckily I had my board to hold on to. That was brutal pain. Girls on the beach thought I got bit by a shark since I was screaming so loud in pain.Closest I ever came to drowning was in college...got a leg cramp in the winter off chuns reef in hawaii. It was awful, and it turned me off for about a year from it. Its no joke.
Yeah, hence my wow reaction.Would have never guessed for a guy with that background would have issues drowning in the channel. RIP
Thank you for all the kind words and pictures. Every picture, every story brings out another round of tears from us, followed by a smile of joy in knowing that so many wonderful people befriended and cared for him. View attachment 1043566 View attachment 1043568 View attachment 1043569
