I'm being a passenger right now and happened to glance at a station a bit ago. Gas/diesel is significantly less then it was a couple of weeks ago by like 30 cents. Whats the deal? Just saw diesel for 3.55 and the cheap stuff for 3.29 at a chevron.

OPEC is flooding the market with petroleum products in a reaction (albeit late) to the massive amounts of shale oil being produced.

3 gas stations (Mobil, Chevron & Shell) at the 60 freeway and Brea Blvd. had 87 octane for $3.19 a gallon today. That's the cheapest I've seen for these stations anywhere...

Yup.....simply amazing :yikes

I wonder if the state will charge the sales tax on the total or do you think they'll only charge sales tax on the underlying fuel cost before the new fees.......:hmm

I am having a hard time believing that people are excited about 3.00 a gallon. Talk about conditioning..

Exactly. Its all a mental fucking. Labor Day has come and gone. Time to drop prices until Thanksgiving weekend.

Last week, we paid $2.93 for 87 at Sam's Club in Yuma.

Heading out later today for some more. I'll bet it's around $2.85 today.....

Many factors, Russia, supply and demand, alternative fuel cars, elections, and conservation are leading to this price drop. Like RD said it's too bad we are thrilled to see $3.00 per gallon when we all know it's still way too high.

What new tax in CA? I was under the impression CA was gonna add a tax to DMV fees based on miles per year driven or something like that. I know my auto insurance rates dropped because I don't drive much.

I'm not excited by any means. I was just pointing out an observation I made. Prices are still a joke

Fuel in California is a rip off.

This is the only way I can fight it right now.

I run this stuff, my truck is flex fuel. I don't know how long the price on this stuff will stay lower than normal fuel but I'm going to run it at $2.85 a gallon.

PROPEL E85

High-octane E85 is compatible with all Flex Fuel vehicles. Comprised of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, E85 is derived from fermented starch and sugars. E85 increases engine performance over conventional gasoline, while improving local air quality.

Also, refineries switching over away from the summer blend specs, higher yield per barrel in the winter months, lower production cost, usually accounts for 0.20/gal to us the end users. Sure, I don't like paying what we do for gas as much as the next person, but I certainly don't want to pay what they do in other countries, I am just scared our governments will figure out they can add as much tax as they like, and still get away with it.

With the surplus in gasoline right now, I'm surprised that we aren't charged more "due to increased storage costs".

Yep looks like the 46 and 33. he's good with an 1/8 tank. Only ten miles to Lost hills and $3.29.... i think

Yeah that Texaco has always been terribly expensive. Although they do have some awesome pistachios. Head further east down the 46 Mike and fill up closer to the 5. It's a lot more reasonable (well reasonable for California)....... :D

Sam's in Yuma yesterday was $2.73.

We filled up at Fry's, which was $2.84, but we had .60 cents off per gallon for the first 35, so we paid $2.24........

P.S. I expect that after next Tuesday, prices will start going back up......

It may go as low as $50 but don't think it will stay that low for long. we may see $150 a barrel again, effin politics playing us.

Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz last week warned oil’s decline would restrain growth in 2015 by a third of a percentage point, but he did note the strong U.S. economy and lower Canadian dollar are giving the economy a boost.

Worries about oil prices have triggered reminders of the Great Recession. A recent report by the investment bank Morgan Stanley said oil prices now face “their greatest threat since 2009,” when $30 oil forced major project cancellations and delays in high-cost regions such as the oil sands.

The firm said Brent crude could touch $43 a barrel before recovering in the second half of 2015.

Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, Boehner, fixed the problem in a bi partisan fashion. In 30 years, we'll have all the details.:)
