About 2:33 in there is the recount of the speed record attempt at Havasu gone bad. Wonder if any members watched it go down?

Awesome podcast and really interesting thank you for posting. Talk about a rabbit hole lol.

Miss America x that broke the 100mph barrier was quite the machine. 4 V12 Packard motors the audio of this thing running is legit. Beautiful boat.

Not much into podcasts but will check this one out, thanks.

By the way, Miss America IX, not Miss America X, was the first boat to exceed 100 mph. March '31. That boat also still exists but the government took back the Packard engines for testing in I believe in PT boats for WWII, now it runs twin BBC's.

Gar Wood was an amazing guy, I have a few books on him. In the height of the depression his companies made over 40 mil in profits and at one time he held more patents than any man alive.

Gar Wood and Orlin Johnson, riding mechanic.

Lots of research in this one for sure. It's not Dan Carlin level but really well done. If you like long form in depth stuff like this give hardcore history a listen.

I've listened to a few other dork a motives now too and am following. Thanks!
