Been at this house for almost 12 years. About 9 years ago we painted and installed cabinets to clean things up but we are now taking it to the next level.

Floored the attic space and added a drop down ladder

New garage flooring...Race deck Freeflow

New lighting

new work bench and cabinets.

Should be a good time.

Took care of the flooring over the weekend. Ordered enough racedeck freeflow tiles to cover a 3 car garage. Actually have a box and a half of extras Incase I️ damage any.

Chose a black border with a red insert and a graphite fill.

Cleared out the garage followed by a good cleaning and we got after it Saturday.

85% of the floor was done in less than 2 hours. My wife and son joined in and we banged it out. The last 15% takes a while and I️ would say another 3 hours and we had it wrapped up. I️ used my 12” compound mitre saw for all the cut pieces and it worked great with a standard wood blade.

Enjoy the pictures I️ think it made a huuuuuuge difference and I’m beyond stoked with the outcome.

Looks great!

Note: and maybe it’s just from my iPad view but, Careful how much weight you put in attic 2x4s making that kind of span with kustom splices ( especially as you start to store items up top) - they tend to sag and sometimes break and collapse on cars:eek: Happened to one of my customers, he did similar attic area. It came down on his wifes Benz :( ( his span was maybe half of what you’ve got )

I love the way that race deck works.. I wanted to do it, but how do you clean the floor after installed? Does all the dirt and fluids just go down below it and stay down there forever?

Just running a shop vac over it will handle 90% or the dirt or debris that fall down.

You can also power wash them if you can do it without damaging the garage drywall. I️ will probably break the garage parking area down into 2 or 3 pieces once a year and drag it to the driveway and power wash and then sweep the garage.

I️ can tell you I️ probably won’t be doing wood working in my garage anymore...don’t want to deal with the dust.

Garage is trussed. I kept the metal brackets and added the side wood as opposed to just a top 1' peice so I could lay the attic floor.:)

$2.89

I got it for a hair less on a black friday sale.

Roughly $1600 for a 3 car garage (I have some extras)

You didn't wanna go the paint chip route huh? Isn't it close to the same amount?

Wow your garage looks great! I dig the colors and the layout!

Gives me some ideas to some day get mine cleaned up, I have so much good junk that I’m never going to use!

Check out depot for some LED lights, they have a good selection, I got 6-2x2 led light panels for the Havasu garage, they are like an inch think and look sweet and easy to install. They have a quite few different sizes and styles.

And don’t forget a ceiling fan, To move some air! Don’t get a light kit as they kinda hang low

Looks great keep it going!

Damn! Are those lights dimmable???[emoji41]

Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

lol... I'm going to use 9 down stairs and one up in the garage attic.

They have pull chains and I will wire them on 2 separate switches (currently wired that way) so I can tuen on the 3 over the work bench or 6 over the cars separate.

Its like working in a cave now...I want more light:D

Sure...lol

Garages are for cars and garage projects not for junk or crap that needs to be gone through. Wife’s stuff goes in bins in the attic [emoji6][emoji41]

When we remodeled our house, we built her her own sewing/laundry room. And made a whole new attic space over my office and her room.
She has filled up the laundry room and more than half of the attic!

I'm as doomed as doomed can be...

Next thing you know you will end up buying one of those fake Harley P-Rod deals...lol;):D

I think I'm going to sell that puppy too. With age comes a cage, and I'm thinking an A body GM car.

If I dump the VRod, Jetta (with the buy back deal) and the toy hauler, Ill have a good start on a complete frame off.

Those cars ride Nice when done right.

I'm gonna do some more homework here, but this is where I'm at right now..

For sure it will be LS powered, but I'm not sure which one yet...

I want to keep the DOD and VVT in place for fuel management (mileage). So maybe a 5.3 LC9, for weight savings as well, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to find one, and if it will have enough torque.

A 6.0 L76 would be a nice find, but then it might suck too much fuel? If I can keep all the fuel management in place, it might be the perfect engine.

A 6.2 L99 would be super sweet if I wanted to go all out. The mileage is a Prime consideration, since this will be a daily driver as well as a river runner. This might not be the best option for that.

I wanna keep everything GenIV for sure.

I wanna see how this Buick I'm building right now rides with all this Hotchkis suspension on it. Even the gear box has been modded to a 2.8 ratio. I'm hoping for great things with this one.

Much much homeework yet to do...

Good start...

I personally would skip the DOD engines as they just don't seem to do enough for fuel mileage compared to the issues you typically run into with the lifters....VVT stuff is a whole different animal and I don't know squat about it.

The newer stuff seems to work better but it just seems like a ton of trouble to gain 2-3 mpg. If you keep the build light and run a combo with the newer 6 speed autos or a manual with a reasonable axle ratio they still get 23-25 mpg.

Aluminum 5.3 would be cool if you can find one.....not sure I would over pay

Maybe a L76 out of a wrecked g8 with a cam swap (Factory gm cams/springs are dirt cheap)

Alot of people swear by the LY6....cheaper iron block but with LS3 heads

Don't over cam it possible a little head work and milling for compression and you could do something tame that makes 400 to the wheels.

It's gonna stay bone stock...

They make more then enough power for what I wanna do. And yeah, the cast iron block deal in any displacement will be a whole lot easier to find.

I think joe is building a driver....

Personally I think he should build a cool hot rod and than pick up a used scion xb as a commuter/river runner.

I don't care what you do to an old car engine/suspension wise i'm not driving it 50 miles daily or running it 250 miles down the 10 fwy...lol

Hard to make the perfect car that does everything perfect.

So Cal traffic with a stick?? Yeah no!

Even though I only drive 15 min to work, I still don't wanna deal with that! Kinna why I'm bored with the V-Rod, way too much work anymore. :p

It's still good for a Sunday morning ride across the ridge to Baldy Village though. V-Roooooooom!

More headway... faced and bench top now done. Need to sand and stain the top and paint the cabinet and make some doors to match the rest of the garage.

Peg board installed on the right side of the bench and made bottoms for the lower portion of the bench.
