Good evening Folks! :D

I had a few minutes of peace and quiet this evening and whipped up a few flies for some calico bass. It isn't anything fancy but is sortofa spinoff of a sculpin pattern I whipped up. I'll put a few of these together in different colors for different conditions.

As always, thank you for checking in!

Just adding to the calico collection. A few homemade concoctions consisting of ingredients from a clouser, a deceiver and a seducer. Threw on some silly legs and a weed guard for good measure. Should be good to go!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I spent a few minutes this afternoon whipping up a few more saltwater flies. These are tied on 1/0 SS hooks. I didnt follow a particular pattern but just threw these together in hopes they'll be productive. A little bit of a seducer with a little bit of a deceiver thrown in for good measure.

Hahahaha! Hey Buddy! Honestly, I don't! Man if I did I would give you whatever you wanted! What patterns would you be interested in though???

I tied a ton of bonefish flies for the Bahamas but those are usually smaller in size than what you would need for the Keys. Keys bones are larger, hence the larger flies.

Tell me what you're interested in (Pattern and size), and I will tie a few for you. I'll get them to you before your trip and you can either throw them in the trash or take them and see if they work. :D Deal?

Man I thought your Key West trip was in July! No pressure I'll get started on some this week for you. Let me know what you'd like as far as fly patterns, colors and sizes.

Thank you for the invite I'd love to go! I'll have to pass this time though. My wife and I have plans July 27th. We'll keep in touch and see what comes up later on!

I've started on a little project for a member here, so I thought I'd share some pictures of what I've whipped up. The pictures aren't the clearest (I just used a cell phone), but you get the idea. I hope he likes these! :D

I'll add some more pictures as I wrap up a few more flies. These four are all tied on Owner saltwater hooks in various hook sizes. Back to the vise! :D

Good luck my friend! Tell Chris if these are all wrong and too small for the Keys, too bad! Just tell him I said he's too tall and he doesn't look good in a pink tutu! :D

Good evening I hope everyone is doing well. I've been busy running around doing a bunch of random crap the last few days, but I managed to find a few minutes to whip up some new flies. I will try these for some smallmouth whenever I can make it back out to the river. I may even try these out in the salt and see if the calico or spotted bay bass show an interest. I whipped up half a dozen in this color combination and will probably add a few more in different sizes and colors. Who knows. 🀷

Good evening! I figured I'd try and make some headway on my little fly collection. There's not much else to do with all this rain we've been having. If I can squeeze out a few more of these between now and the summer, I should have a decent little assortment to choose from.

I'm thinking I'll name this guy "The Wheeler."

Simply because of the little mowhawk and the vibrant personality. 🀣

@Wheeler

I'll add a handful of various Wooly Boogers to this box and maybe a few more random ties just for fun. If I can fill this box and maybe a second box, that should be a good start. Lord knows I'll snag and lose a bunch of these little bastards!

This is a pattern I recently picked up from Al Q. If you know, you know. His version is much prettier than mine, but I'll get there someday! πŸ‘

Good afternoon!

I hope you all are doing well! We've been super-busy with everything else in life, and I've only had one fishing trip this year. During that expensive boat ride, I managed to land two little Calico bass, and that was it. I have found some spare time at night to play around on the vise, and this is one I whipped on "On the fly." Nice play on words. 🀣

I saw a similar pattern on IG and decided to make my own version. This is a pattern for targeting redfish in Central Florida and I thought why not whip up a few. Maybe someday, I'll have the opportunity to fish for some reds (Doubtful, but you never know!)

The hook is a #1 and the brass eyes are size small.

I figured I'd make a few of these just in case I have a chance to wet a line. As always, thank you for checking in. πŸ‘

Stay safe and have a fantastic day!

You know, all this time I thought you were called backlash for a different reason. I think I just put two plus two together and realized the real reason. Yes I am a little slow. πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜³πŸ€£

Good afternoon Joe!

Thank you SOOOO much for the compliment! Honestly, I'm just a hack and I'm a long ways away from mastering this craft. This is a simple hobby I picked up from my father years ago. He got me interested in fly tying and fly fishing several decades ago, and it always seemed like something him and I connected with. He passed away five years ago, but I still continue to dabble with these creations as a sense of relaxation.

My father, a true Waterman, was born and raised in Florida. He was a genuine Conch, being born in Key West. Throughout his life, he fished all over the state, from Central Florida south to the Florida Keys. Gulf Coast, Atlantic Coast, Mosquito Lagoon and the Everglades. He's been there done that.

I would make different flies and then send them to him to see what worked (If anything). I tied the flies and he'd fish with them. It seemed like a good team. πŸ‘

I haven't had the opportunity to fish with any of these recent additions, as I've just been too busy with life and other priorities. I'm hopeful that will change in the Springtime.

In the meantime, I'll slowly continue to add to various boxes I'm assembling for different locales. The goal is to have enough of an assortment of flies for various fish....wherever I'm able to go. Thank you for the kind words and for following along. I do appreciate it Sir! πŸ™
