Yep CBD friends just bought a big plot in Utah. Had all his Mormon buddies out there planting.

Informative, didn't realize they could grow for CBD only with no THC, thought CBD had to be extracted.

Yeah they still extract it but from hemp. They also have a few Indoor warehouses for the THC market. I will ask which is more profitable. Imagine the CBD is as it can be grown outdoor.

CBD has become popular with the aging Baby Boomers, even those who'd never willingly puff a J. Wonder if what remains of the hemp after CBD extraction is still marketable as well ?

What strains?
The CNN story on Charolettes Webb was interesting. I’ve seen it for sale in local smoke shops. And not pot stores. Tobacco smoke shops.

Haven't paid a dime since I started about 5 years ago but then again I don't smoke an ounce a week like I did 35 years ago. :D
I quite smoking it when I met my wife in 85 and then took it up again about 8-10 years ago. Mostly smoke at night before bedtime to take the edge off the day.
Hell I give a shit load of it to family/friends and still have a fair amount left at the next harvest. Stored properly it ages with time and my crops from Oct 1 of last year taste really good.

How much do you want for a pound? I started smoking when I started cancer treatments. It really helps me sleep.

So what is your guys take on water leaf's. I like to leave them on till the plant starts budding, then trim most of them off.

You are the biggest pansy ever. Even after I blocked you I still have to see your dumb post when people quote you. RDP needs to get your dumbass outta here for good. Would be a much better place without your snowflake ass.

FYI ...If you put someone on ignore you can't see their post if another inmate quotes them. You should check to see if you really have Grads on ignore. ;):)

Yeah yours look to be coming along pretty good. I was a bit late on planting again this year and probably have another 5-6 weeks to go.

Neighbor in California was hit by the DEA "weed team" a couple weeks ago. Not sure how many plants he had, but it was well known in the neighborhood that he was growing.

My neighbor across the street and 3 doors down has a backyard full of sequoia's growing back there. I'd swear they are 10-12' tall and very visible when passing by.

Wow.. Last time I saw a grow like that we were cutting it down:D

Hahahahaha…. Before you all turn on the flame throwers... The retard growing the junk didn't wire it right and almost burnt down his warehouse and the ones next to it. If you are going to grow it, do it right.
Lol, no flamethrowers here:D

Long story condensed.
I know a guy who was renting a 3br2ba home in Norco, with exception to the kitchen and front living room there were 4 separate grow areas.

Riverside County Sheriff deputies contacted him on the front porch in the early AM requesting enterance or threatened to wake up a judge for a warrant.

After some debate with the deputies supervisor, he signed the consent to search form.
Assured if there were no
Weapons
Scales
Oils
Equipment to produce oils
And he would need to show proof of proper documentation on his care givers license and a current electricity bill.

There would be no drama and no one was going to jail.
That house was full of pot, almost 900 plants.
The dude had all his I’s dotted, his T’s crossed.
At the end of the contact they wished him well and left.
No drama. No confiscations, no arrests.
I saw his copy of the consent to search form myself.
I was amazed.

No Buds yet, and after 2 rounds of testing, no THC either. 17,500 clones on 10 acres. Just a little test crop this year. So far I have more labor cost in this 10 acres than I do in 1200 acres of corn. They’re about 2 weeks from a good canopy which will cut labor a ton.

My coworker is partners in a commercial operation in CO.

Just a portion of the last partial harvest.
They have machines that strip the buds and they have skid steers for loading it up.

Fuk me, damned tobacco worm's have set in. I'm thinking the plant that has them the worst is about ready for harvest. Picked about 30 or so off this evening and not sure to push the chop a bit early to avoid further damage.
Thoughts???

Use BT. Cattapillar killer up to a week before harvest... no harsh chemicals. Also spray weekly with neem oil, organic but still stop a week before harvest

Chop Chop.
Burn anything and everything left over.
Don't want that happening next year.
Spray the ground after you yank them.

This and many other issues are going to be cropping up in the near future.
With the commercialization comes bigger problems.
Might want to consider a green house towards the budding season,.

nce a month is great for spider mites and white fly’s , but I’m more preventative about cattapillars when I have a few outdoors that are in the last month or so. It’s esier to prevent problems vs treat them after they’ve set in.

Did you know that many bugs can’t stand tobacco juice? In fact, nicotine a fast acting nerve toxin in insects and mammals. If you see whiteflies, gnats, aphids, thrips or leafminers, try using tobacco spray to get rid of them.

HOW TO MAKE STEEPED TOBACCO BUG REPELLENT
Here’s a simple way to prove this in your garden: take a plug or wad of chewing tobacco (which can be purchased at most grocery stores), stick it in a nylon stocking, and boil it. You’ll end up with a fragrant dark brown juice containing loads of nicotine and other natural chemicals that function as broad spectrum insecticides.

But that’s not all there is to this solution: it needs a bit more to make it truly effective. As with most natural insecticide mixes, you’ll need to mix it into a soapy base to get it to stick to the plants. So make yourself a Fels Naphtha Soap solution by boiling a whole bar in a stocking, and mix that with two cups of tobacco juice and one cup of any antiseptic mouthwash. The mouthwash will irritate and/or desiccate any bugs that try to chow down on your plants

I don't have most bug problems as city growers.

Haven't had most problems with bugs as city growers. I make a chewing tobacco spray that I spray on once a week and in 9 years growing up here have not had any bug problems.

What's your plan?
This is only going to get to be a bigger problem and I don't want to see Bayer setting the course.
Edit: I think jeteater1 has a decent solution. Tobacco has killed trillions of bugs. I used it for slugs and snail etc. 30 years ago for stuff that crawl on the ground. :D
