Damn good trip to Glamis this past weekend. Weather was perfect and definitely a lot less people out there. Girls rode through 30 gallons of fuel in they're good old trx250r's. Yesterday we spent a good part of the day in the big dunes from back of Olds to Osborne. SXS buddy had a rookie moment and highcentered it and then one after the other got stuck pulling. Lol good times.

Looks like a ton of fun, I can’t wait for my boys to be old enough to ride in a car so we can get back out there! This will probably be my first year in 10+ years I haven’t made it out.

Excuse my ignorance. Are there rules for kids to be in cars/side by sides?

My wife and I are contemplating getting some toys, we have a 5 and a 3 year old.

I’m sure there are age limits but just like the age limits on quads not many people follow them. When I posted on here to see what set ups people were running for their kids they seemed to start putting them in forwards facing car seats around 2-3. I have a 4 month old so I’m not in a huge rush right now.

Looks like you guys had a great time! Great pictures.

Do you know anything about a young man dying on a motorcycle?

I saw the Instagram post of the Rangers doing CPR on him. Allegedly a 19 y/o who came up short on a kicker riding his dirt bike. Helicopter left without loading the patient, sad.

Yeah 19 year old is what I heard as well. I also read the chopper can not transport patients who are not stable and they could not get the kid stable. That is why the chopper left.

That is my understanding too. I think the helo staff knew what the outcome ultimately would be. Some family is in a lot of pain right now unfortunately.

That is very sad to hear as I had taken my group to the ledge and were watching him and another rider hitting the lips out there, we left and went a couple of dunes over then seen the rangers 2 buggies come in and reach, which had landed breifly then took off and circled for 5-10 minutes or so. Once we saw multiple emergency vechicals coming in from both ends of 78 we figured it had to be bad or another accident on sand hwy. RIP young duner 🙏

Todd Taylor posted he was out in that area when it went down. As usual, Todd helped until others arrived.

It is such an awesome place when it isn't overrun by thousands of idiots and the wind doesn't blow 50 mph.
It was actually a nice calm weekend for a holiday, washes were maybe 50% full, if you stick between China and Brawley you get epic riding and very little traffic

Definitely, it felt more like just a regular weekend.

just enough breeze to keep the washes with clean air.

We were in wash 4, Wednesday through Sunday, surprised it wasn't busier. Saturday was a little busy, but once you got away from the popular spots it cleared up.

I was out at Gordon's Well Thursday - Sunday and it was quiet there as well, I was expecting more people. I was also at Gordon's the weekend before and it was dead - we had some epic rides, after the wind blew all week, then calmed down when we arrived on Saturday to have untracked dunes on the SE end.

Couple of photos from Thursday - bout as quiet as you will see swing set!

I havent been out here in almost 7 years and having so much fun, the weather is perfect! Its been pretty quiet so far but more people are rolling in as we speak.

Apparently there is a campground host here now and we were talking to him. Super cool guy and he is also looking at controlling the Ghost Campers.

Great pictures. Makes me think of going there in the late 70's and early 80's with my sand rail. All VW motors then. Some wonderful weekends.

I can remember coming out here back in the day with our mid engine VW turbo cars and went you went on rides it was a 1/2 to full day to get to any place because they rode like shit and usually someone would break down. It always seemed like Glamis was huge back then. Now with these bigger cars you can get thru the dunes much quicker than back in the mid engine days.

Our group is so big its still a whole day ride to go from the washes to the swing set. LOL somebody breaks or gets stuck or goes to slow.

This trip most everyone was on it aside from one guy. I totally get where you are coming from though. We were at Osborne and my daughters wanted to go back and get their bikes and come back so the group stayed there and we shot back to camp jus me in the buggy. made it back in like 15 minutes. would of been an our in our VW1914 beam car.

Yes - we usually camp at Gordon's instead of Glamis and now with SXS you can pop up anywhere in Glamis in no time. From Gordons to Swing set is 14 miles +/- and takes 25-30 minutes +/- pending group size and who is riding along with me. Can be done quicker if just me :)! If you go right along the out of bounds markers as you head up (the blue area in the attachd map), it is a nice ride with lots of clean running, avoiding the sand highway completely - once past the markers it is about 2.5 miles north - then you hang a right and head out east to swing set, maybe a mile. It is not shown on the attached map, but it is just sligtly north and west of China Wall We usually jump from there over to China Wall (or vicea versa), then work our way up to Olds and take dunes back over to Gecko area and head south along the "inland" path avoiding the sand highway in both directions.

Who can tell me about the road down from 78 into the washes - looking to check out wash 10 or so this coming Thursday - Sunday - when not at Gordons I have typically gone to Gecko - but was thinking about checking out the wash road and the camping in that area.

I am pulling a 10k bumper pull toybox with a F-350 Tremor - can air down - but wonding if we can get in and out of there without it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Like was said the road is maintained and hard packed. We usually camp in wash 4 which can get a little soft in the back by the small dunes. Just put it in 4wd when you leave the main wash road, and I suggest arriving in the day time.
