This is my first post here and I am new to V drives so i am looking for good information. I am building a Glen L tornado. This is a 60s/70s style family ski boat. It will be made of all mahogany. The running gear is a Pontiac 400 and casale top loader box. My main question right now is prop shaft angle. The plans call for a 10-12 degree prop shaft. I have been told to go as shallow as i can. Right now that is 9 degrees. Is there any reason i should not go with 9 degrees? also to put the gear box in the ideal position i would need to lengthen the aft part of the hull behind the drivers seat 8-9 inches. Is there any reason i should not do that? That would make the overall length of the boat 19' 4". I have attached some of the design plans for the hull. Any input would be appreciated.

Look forward to watching this build, I used to get strut bearings and simple parts from Glen L over in Bellflower back in the day and loved looking at the drawings in his case and thumbing thru the books there. There were plenty of boats built with the steeper angle that run just fine, you're not building this to go run 100 mph I am assuming, have fun match that angle the best you can to the top loader, if the shallower strut angle helps you out run it, but it will push that box forward or as you stated your strut back. that will change the performance of the boat from what the original plans call out. Unless Speed is your drug, I would build it to specs. There are some pretty bright gents on these pages, kind of interest to some opinions on this for a true cruiser.
