We have had some rodent issues on our property since or last cat was consumed by a Coyote years ago , Weve been toying with the idea of a "barn cat" but didnt really want to leave a kitten outside to learn to fend for itself however we didnt want an indoor cat at all . Additional Sebastians (Chocolate lab) trigger word is "Kitty" , He can spy one in my back pasture hundreds of yards away . This is partly my fault cause I chide him into it (get the Kitty) . A month ago this mangy little bob tailed critter (Bobby) started hanging out behind the barn and Rhonda started feeding it ............. Delima : How do you aclimate a Kitty hating Mutt to his new llttle friend

With my Weimaraner it was the threat of violence, their first meet he took him in his mouth and flung him across the room, he never did that again.

They ended up total Buddies.

Maybe another Coyote swings by and solves the problem.

6 month update .... "Bobby" turns out to be a Kurilian bob tail (rare Russian breed) , we bought a chip detector (no chip) and because we live in the "country" the neighbors are at distance , all we asked werent missing a Cat so we started feeding her and she made a Home in one of My hulls behind my barn. Not wanting an indoor cat but wishing for one for "rodent control" we have been feeding Her since November hoping for Her to stay . Months back we noticed a plethora of Male "Suiters" picked up on video surveillance at nite NOW we have a fleet of Mousers 🐈🐈🐈🐈..............

Mine get along fine. My cat is an asshole, and generally isn't happy.

The cat has a drinking problem....might be why he's such an asshole

But you'd have a drinking problem too, if you had to put up with my kids . . .

But he's been an asshole since day 1, so I don't feel too bad for him.

As you can see - he would rather not be touched. At all.

Cuteness overload , Feral cats "screws like bunnies" so no great surprise our Feral Kitty developed more the babies are a few weeks old we moved them last week from Joshes Wildercraft to a old dog crate in the boat port with a Kitty Cam . We think the little "Ho" has a few different Daddys

A cats litter can have multiple fathers. Be careful. See attached photo.

The key thing with cats is get them when there young, like 8 weeks old and they are easily trainable. Older cats that have had lots of human contact can be trained too, just takes longer. Cats will never be as loyal as a dog but they do have big personalities and will show a connection to their owner like a dog if you raise them from a young age.

My wife had only had one cat in her life and it was 12 YO when she got it, sounds like it was a good one that got along with her dog, but she didn't raise it. We have two random rescue kittens that I got when we first met and we have raised them for 2+ years. Both female cats, both love her 9 YO dogs, one cat scares the hell out of both of them, the other loves the dogs, plays with them, tries to clean them and lays on them in our bed.

My wife is amazed how our cats are like dogs, they follow us around inside and outside the house, come when you call them, both cats have gone ( uninvited and noty on leashes) on the daily dog walk with the dogs (like a mile +) and just want to be part of the heard. They are different than dogs in a couple ways though, when you call the cat, or tell it to get off the counter they have to think about it for like 30 seconds before they do it. They also do shit like open cabinet doors, jump on counters, knock shit off things if we don't give them attention when they want it.

One of our cats is a straight up bully and killer. She drags rabbits bigger than her in the house, kills them then eats them starting at the head and moves to the ass end. Her name is Penny, may wife calls her Pennywise. That cat isn't afraid of dogs at all, struts around like takes what ever she wants she is going take, including attention from dogs that are 150 pounds, she makes them love on her. She loves dragging rabbits, shrews and squirrels in to the house. She has come home with deep cuts, bruises etc, I don't take her to the vet she just heals up and does her thing. She is part Manx and I swear part pit bull. I've had a couple of male cats like this but she is much more alpha.

The other cat ( Bella) is the most attentive and loving cat I have ever had, but has an affinity for bringing birds (blue jays, crows, chickadees, basically any bird) in to the house. That cat can jump 6' straight up in the air and birds are her thing. She brings them in alive and my wife is constantly trying to catch them in the morning after I've left for work.

Last summer I walked out back and Bella the bird hunter was super focused on the trees in our green belt. I walked to the fence line and there was a red tailed hawk staring at our cat on the fence and it had the same look in its eyes. Both were looking at each other like I'm going to kill you.

If you own a cat You're Just One Missed meal away from having your eyes gouged out and nose chewed off while you sleep.
