Without this thread I wouldn’t have known my neighbors have a gopher problem. They paid someone to come set the traps.

Found a mound on my side of the yard the other day . Set a trap around 7pm and by the early am had that f’er. My neighbor lets them mound up his yard for a bit before trying to drowned them. As soon as that f’er cross’s that boundary line its mine.

It’s a never ending problem. I dealt with it in chino. Vacant lot behind us. Killed many in the 5 years we lived there and it didn’t even slow them down

Pest control guy just left here. He was spraying for bugs. I asked about the gophers and he said unless the neighbors hire him as well to get rid of them why bother. They are destroying the landscape on this block.

The one that showed up at my house. Must of climbed up on my porch and fell into a bucket I had on the stairs. Fucker was trapped and got wacked. He is was Fat and had been eating good came from the house next door.

This just happened. Couldn’t find the tunnels on the neighbors side. Smoke was coming out of the ground on my neighbors side, so perhaps he got the gopher now. My neighbor was worried about CO poisoning.....

i built this over the weekend ran the mower in about 8 holes that were all active as of this morning i have seen no activity i figure the exhaust fumes plus 300+ degrees should kill the little bastards.
i like the pulling the dead bodies out but the proses is to slow they breed well like gophers you get a digging adult but the rest of the family is still under foot until the it’s time for the next community expansion. i will update on how this works long term.

So I've gone since early March with nary a tunnel or mound. The school actually did some eradication on their side of the fence in May, so I pretty much had a rodent free summer. A few weeks ago, saw some mounds on the other side of the wire, popping up ever closer to my fence. Got some mounds on my side, right at the fence, and couldn't really use the Gopher Hawk, being right at the fence. He made his way under the house slab to the front yard, using existing tunnels I can't get to. The mounds in the front were right next to the sidewalks, with the tunnels under the concrete, so the Hawk wouldn't work well. The tried and true Sweeny Trap did the job, though. I'm pretty sure it was just one lone rat, but I'll wait to see if anymore take over for their deceased comrade.

Sorry. No picture.

I bought two of those gopher catchers and haven’t caught one yet, I’m doing something wrong
You need to make sure to get it in the run. I use a piece of rebar to poke hole around the mounds. When I find it I'll roll the rebar around to make a small circle, then push the trap in and set it. Just keep trying and you'll get it.

You can run some water down a hole and then set the trap the little bastards will come fill the hole and hope they get caught! Basically creat a means for them to come check out what’s happening….

Finally got this guy the other day using a Victor Easy Set trap. Like the old Macabee style, but a bit smaller and easier to set.
Been after this gopher for about 6 months now. He was moving through an area I couldn't access easily and when I could, despite trying three different trap styles, including the gopher hawk, he kept burying them all. I must give him credit, he was burrowing through compacted DG I had to damn near chisel away just to access his tunnel to set the trap.
I like the Gopher Hawk, but my ground is hard, I've scored three hits with it, compared to probably 8 for my other types, not the trap, but can only use it in the softer soils.
I bought it incase I get a gopher in the lawn, where it should work well with less turf damage.

Sweet Victory 👍👍👍
