What make and model would recommend for a GPS tracking device for a boat??? Why did you choose it? Where is it mounted? Does it have it’s own battery power? Does it have a separate antenna that can be discretely mounted?

Thanks---S21RC

If your looking for something for theft recovery I have Trak 4 GPS. I have them wired to the batteries on all of my toys. Purchased them on Amazon. $50 buck each and $90 a year. You can upgrade how often it pings the location but I figured the cheapest option works fine. I keep seeing everyone complaining when their trailers get stolen. Next time I hope one of these gets my stuff back.

I'm dealing with my spot trace as I type this......
Went to pick up the boat today for the first time since it was installed last month.

It failed miserably in every aspect.

I just got off the phone with customer support.

The number one issue is keeping it powered up. If you had in installed, and a trickle charger on the batteries, that would work. if it pinged once daily, that would be best. On the average car battery most devices last 2 weeks.

Ok,
It's hooked up to its it's own Optima battery so it can be placed anywhere.
It has the dock mode enabled and the extream track which cuts the ping time down to every 2.5 mins once it's moved.

So, i got the boat out of storage.
Recieved my first alert about 5 miles & 10 minutes down the road.

Then it stopped tracking altogether a few minutes after that.

The boat was miles away in the garage and sitting for 45mins.
But it still showed that the boat was on hwy 95.

It completely shit the bed, if this was the real deal!

They had me Reboot it.
But what good does that do me if I'm home and this shit happens again?

I going to go drive around and see if the reboot works.
