GPS Tracker for toys and equipment

What is everyone using for gps tracking for their toys or work equipment? We've now had 3 pieces of equipment stolen from job sites in so cal in two weeks. The boss is over it and now wants to put gps tracking on every truck, trailer, equipment, and even the toys (Boat, Stacker, sand car, ect). There seems to be some decent stuff on amazon but would like some first hand experience with trackers. I would like to find some that hook up to batteries so we don't have to take them off and charge them each month. It doesn't matter if there is a monthly fee, we just want something that works and isn't spotty service

I’m in the equipment business and every single one of our machines are using either TrackUnit or ClearSky. Both gives us the option of diagnostics as well as GPS tracking.

Probably overkill for what you’re needing.

there are many trackers available. the lower cost systems rely more on cell phone coverage vs true GPS.

the biggest problem I found was the battery. i would hide a small motorcycle type battery to run it and give you at least 30 days of usage before needing a charge.

someone stealing this kind of stuff is going to kill the power immediately to try and shut a tracker down. it needs to be totally stand alone. a common tactic is to haul off an RV to a location 10-20 minutes from where it was stored then park it for a few days to see if there is any sort of tracker.

I bought these the other day after a member of a local Jeep group had his wrangler stolen and tracked it down in Mexico. I guess it uses other iPhones to ping it……and I mean, who doesn’t own some sort of apple product now a days
