What’s a good gps plotter that won’t break the bank? Only have room for a 7” or smaller and just want to be able to do maps if needed and maybe add vessel view if I can but not a deal breaker if not.

Go play with them all. The "language" is slightly different from Garmin to Lowrance. I find the Garmin to be a bit more intuitive, but my better half likes the Lowrance more.

All the big names make a solid unit now. Go touchscreen, and try to go bigger if possible. Nothing worse than having to slow down to read the GPS!
