Medically, our daughter was never supposed to be able to have kids so we made peace with not having grandkids. Four years ago, "Daddy, I'm pregnant" kind of rocked my world. I had no idea how it would change me. Was completely clueless. Several months ago, they all moved to our place so I get to spend the day with my girl. Tractors, cow stuff, chores, naps and snacks. A three year old is basically my boss and somehow I'm more than ok with it.
I missed out on a lot with my kids as they grew up. Work was always hectic followed by priorities that I now question. It's like getting a second chance to do it right but with some life experience, wisdom and wayyy more patience.
Anyone else surprised how grand babies changed things?

No grandkids yet. Hopefully not for a bit. Pops was gone a lot of the time when I was growing up, chasing paper and the American dream.
When my sister started hatching kids, I was young still (12), and honestly a bit jealous. He was still around when I had my first, and shortly for my second.

Different light...
This giant man, could do anything with his back or hands, was the softest, sweetest teddy bear with my kids. Nothing could have shown me that guy growing up.
I don't know what it is. Maybe I'll see it sometime happen to me, I don't know.

Time is no friend to us. It can run short right when we think we have things figured out. A few, like yourself, get it figured out in time to make good use of it.
Keep doing what you're doing😍

While i dont have grandkids, oldest is only 3. i can say the the change or other side i saw in my parents is huge. my mom is pretty much what i expected, the grandkids get all the toys and spoiled pretty good with her. my dad was a pretty big suprise to me, he has owned a construction company my whole life and longer. pretty hardened to the world, but with either one my kids he is a giant softee. pretty neat to see as i never saw that side of him until my daughter came along.

Landon is the big boy turned 14 yesterday and Gavin my little man turned 12 today. They have changed me every way imaginable, the bond is unbelievable and a credit to my son Steve we see them all the time.

… I am of the hippie generation… Never got married never had kids… But my next-door neighbor kind of landed on me when she was nine… She is now 27… She is much like a granddaughter to me… Very intelligent …

My Dad with my kids 11 years ago. My son is his best friend. My Mom passed away in 2008 and it absolutely crushed my daughter. She lost it at the funeral. Anyway, he goes to every single baseball game he has. He's an old school hard ass that my buddies call Gran Torino if that gives you an idea. When my kids were younger they owned him. It was awesome. But, I really believe he is here because of them. He travels to go watch my daughter play college softball. It's pretty cool. I'm very grateful they still have him.

Our first just turned one last week. Wash nailed it, she's already the boss and I'm totally ok with it. My favorite part is getting to spend the time with her and spoil her like crazy, and send her home with her mom and dad.

I’ve been blessed with 10.
Oldest 16 youngest is 2.
They all live within 5 miles of us and are a huge part of me and my wife’s lives.
We see them multiple times a week, usually with at least one sleepover with a couple of them, and have family dinner at our house every Sunday.
Oh, and they all love the River!
Can’t imagine life without them.
The family on Easter…

Anyone want to send this memo to my parents.... They have completely dropped the ball on being Grand parents. My dad is the only chance they have at having a grandpa and he could care less.

They are a gift I never understood until the first one was born. Seeing one of your own with one of theirs is a feeling I cherish.

No. 1 Leland, named after my dad who passed in 2003

#8 is in the oven My heart is full the only bummer is that they live far away so we don't get to see them as much as we'd like Face time has to do for now.
