Are these junk ? I do not have a bunch of extra space, and this would do what I need... I know always go bigger you will use it....

They aren't great, but will get you by in a pinch.

the combo machines are always funky. both the lathe and the mill have to give up some strengths to be combined. normally on a 16.5" swing lathe you would see a 8" at the smallest chuck more likely a 10" or maybe even a 12". that has a 4". the mill spindle is MT3 which isnt a deal breaker but would rather see R8 (thats what a normal bridgeport runs). All that to say if it will do what you need / want, then go for it. i know a few guys who have bought grizzly and have been happy.
