I have the goatee and told the wife I would shave my head but she wasn’t very fond of the idea so it didn’t happen.......yet.

This is me, although I don't know about the bad ass part. I'm 67 and had a mustache that's never been off since high school, which evolved to a goatee about 10 years ago. The hair pretty much left on it's own, what's left I buzz with clippers as short as possible about twice a week. Sure beats paying for haircuts.
