Model: Super Sport
Length: 21'
Engine: 430hp SBC 350
Propulsion: alpha one
Prop: mirage 23p
Top speed: 65mph
Pros: with the built motor it has an awesome cruise speed of 50mph. Top speed is 65mph. It has a decent gel scheme for a classic boat.

Cons: it has a pretty good chine walk that has scared me a few times. The bow feels so light it wants to "wheelie" through everything. It also has a low freeboard.

Overall: this boat is a fun ride for someone who may be a bit more experienced with boating. It definitely needs alot of driver input so you dont end up belly up.

Nice boat - I had a 1995 20 SS with a 454 Mag and loved that boat. I think my top speed was around 65 MPH or so, and I never noticed any chine walk in my boat. The boat was rock solid for skiing, and did a decent job of handing rough water for the size it was.

I sold the boat in 2001 because I was moving to a bigger boat, but sometimes I kick myself for selling it because it was so good for skiing and easy to handle.

The first boat is my boat and is actually a completely different boat then the 20 SS. My boat is a Hallett 23' daycruiser which makes it a much larger boat. Hallett used the built in windshield like the 20SS but its 3 feet longer and the bottom is different. As the 23' was original built for a v-drive installation the center strakes phase out in the middle of the boat and a small triangle shaped delta was molded into the blast area just after the prop. This helps with the chine walk situation. I have had my 23' up to 74 mph with a 550 HP 502.

Technically, the SS is a 20'er. I have a 1978 Hallett Super Sport v-drive, running 565" twin turbo w/T400 trans and C500 w/29's. I really have no complaints about the boat other than wanting a new boat(Hallett 210). It is rock solid, with no chine walk. The boat will run in the mid to high 80's with no handling gremlins. 100_0940.JPG DLBPedro2009017.jpg DSC03024.JPG

I would play with other props and make sure the out drive is tight.
I have been in many SS 20s and not expierienced the walk.

So cool to see this boat. I am almost positive that was our family's boat. Exact same colors, bow rail, swim steps, etc. Obviously the interior and gauges have been upgraded. My Dad built it in 1981 and we sold it in 1988. Used it up in Lake Arrowhead mostly, at one point it had a Gale Banks Turbo System on it. Although my Dad had other boats before this one, this was the first boat I was old enough to remember. Great to see it, brings back good memories. Thanks for posting.

Idk... I have a 1982 Camaro, it’s the Berlinetta model, Very nice, with Enkie’s and T/A’s. It’s packing a very robust all stock 305 SBC- I use it as a tow rig for my 17ft Glastoron jet boat. I can swap the motor into my Jet boat at loading ramp then re- swap back into the Berlinetta chic magnet to pull the show rig home. Hits 115 -120 fully loaded, easily. Hit me up on my space. Hey do u like Guacamole? 😎
