Spent the day removing the interior and hardware. Pretty impressed with the build quality. Everything was thru bolted, no mis-matched nuts and bolts. Took two wrenches sizes to remove the whole interior and deck hardware, 3/8 and 1/2". Floor still looks pretty solid. Seat bases are all fiberglass gelled to match the base color on the boat.

Yes that's the one. Did you look at it?

Almost bought it without even looking at it. we just got a 97 210 with a 7.4 and a bravo 1 a few months back for the same price and was thinking about adding another to the fleet to flip. I slept on it and then it was gone lol! their pictures sucked; yours are a lot better. She looks to be in great shape sweet pick up and good luck. Can't wait to see what you do with it

Was surprised no one had picked it up. They said I was the first to look at it, nice older couple. I was told the son had posted the listing but did want them to sell.

You are kicking ass and taking names. Also curious what you used for wind screens

The wind screens were polished similar to polishing headlight enclosures, than we applied a matte black wrap material to the inside. The standard tints would not adhere to the plexiglass for long with out bubbling

Thanks for finally updating LOL. I've been monitoring this waiting for the next step. We have a 210 as well. What did the gauges run you, as I still have the same stock ones (identical to yours) and am looking to update.

Turning the corner on the trailer. Paint is done. Hard to tell in the picture, changed the color to a silver metallic. Get to start reassembly tomorrow.

Trailers Done,

Replaced the bunks with pressure treated 2x6 and 2x4's. Ordered the bunk carpet from Pacific Trailers, comes in rolls pre cut for either 2x6 or 2x4 bunks.
Used stainless staples. clamped the new wood on on and predrilled for for stainless carriage bolts counter sunk and double nutted.

brakes were next. Time to retire the drums, they were done.
20150725_191522_resized.jpg

Did not look like the bearings had been rebacked in quite awhile.

20150725_190901_resized_1.jpg

Installed Disks, Went with the Kodiak 10" kit. front hubs were rebuilt with new seals and cleaned and repacked bearings.

20150802_115217_resized.jpg

New master and Actuator assembly. Cheaper to replace the whole unit then just the used up bits.

Gelcoat repairs are coming along. Took longer than expected but looks like they may be done next week.
Took the boat in to repair all the dock rash and scrapes and scratches from 25 years of use. Do not think the previous owners did any cosmetic repairs.

Off the trailer

Thank You,

Enjoyed watching your build. Looks like you have got a pretty strong running family ski boat:cool

She runs good I'm very happy with how everything turned out. On my way to Havasu as we speak to try some props and run the boat.

You doing all new interior?[emoji41][emoji631]

Who did all the fiberglass repairs?

Sal at Orange County Boat Repair. They have done repair work for me in the past on previous boats.
Color and fade match were always very good.

I got estimates from a few different gel coat shops and the popular interior/gel coaters.

This is fantastic!! When you switched to discs were those a direct replacement for the drums?

Who are you using for the interior?

congrats on the new boat! amazing what they can do with gel. is there any noticeable bump where they went over the top to cover up the original? id love to get rid of the color scheme on mine and go wtih something more traditional just worried you'd always see them unless i did a complete re-gel.

Thanks, yes the disks are a direct replacement. The caliper brackets have the same bolt pattern as the drum backing plates. Only thing that i needed to watch was the axle type, straight or tapered so you get the correct bearings and races. Also changed out the master cylinder there are different masters listed For disks vs drums. I would image the bore size is differant for the disks.

On a side note, When I switched to the drums i added the reverse solinoid so had to go to a five wire plug from the four. The trailer is an old competitive with the round style plug mounted inside the trailer tongue. Found that the five wire plugs are not easy too find any more. Only trailer shop around that stocks them was Walstrong good old school trailer shop.

Interior is being done by a local shop close by. I will post up their name later. Dropped off the seats today so they could get started.

That was a concern of mine as well because we regeled the three sets of blue strips. The pearls and metallics require clear. The clear helps with depth and pop in the colors and blends the transitions so you dont have the ridges.

Looks great! Did you have Orange County Boat Repair work on it? The colors really make that 210 POP. Just enough change.

Yes, Sal at OC Boat repair did all the gel work and repairs. Got off to a slow start but that was understandable since I brought the boat in at their busiest time of year.
Very happy with their work.

That is really coming out nice. I saw that ad when I was looking last year. At that time they were asking high teens. It looked really hammered for that price. You did well.

Question on the windscreens. Did your's have any internal cracks? Mine are full of them. Wondering if your treatment would help. I'm thinking no they just need replaced.

Yes there is internal cracking and grazing at the corners. Nowhere near as visible as before. I will have a better idea after I get the boat back on the water in the next few weeks and see how they hold up. At some point I may end up having new units made. I did get a quote of $900 to $1000 for new, other things to spend my money on right now.

I was a bit hesitant to convert to disks cause of the problems I had with my last trailer with disks. This setup seems to work much better. I did my own harness from the trailer to the plug to ensure the reverse solinoid is activated by the backup lights. Most of the premade five wire truck to trailer harness I looked Wire the electric brake circuit instead.

Project took a slight detour :thumbsdown
When putting the boat back on the trailer at the gelcoat shop I could hear something sloshing around in the Hull. I was hoping it was the gas tank in the floor or water from them washing the boat after the Gelcoat work.
Figured if it was water from the washdown it would just drain out. Well I took the boat to B&D to have them do a tune up and check out the condition of the motor and drive, Carb was so full of deposits from water it had to be junked. So i took the boat over to Hallett to get an idea of how the floors were built and if there was any drainage down the center section of the Hull. Found out the older Hulls are sealed between the stringers so if water gets in its not coming out, Cut a hole in the floor a took some pictures...

unless it eats a hole thru the tank:(

20150908_171738_resized.jpg 20150908_171824_resized.jpg

Fortunately Hallett was able to jump on it right away, The floors were removed and replaced and installed a new tank and bulk head with drainage thru all the sections of floor.should be good for another 30 years.:tbi
