Looks like it happened before. Someone put a piece of wood on top of the box.
I replace mine every 6 to 8 years. Seen too many leak. Along with the expansion tank.
It's worth the $400 for peace of mind

I would recommend a blower to dry it out but Havasu. Just open the garage door and windows and it will be dry in 30 minutes or so.

Water heater failed in Vegas. I tried the home depot and Lowes installation. $1200 and $1500.
Made a road trip to vegas and got to see my daughter and picked up a 50 gal heater for $600 and an hour later it was done
Then I find out vegas requires a permit
f that. Done and gone.

Just walked out my garage door and heard my old dog coming out . Turn to tell him to stay and caught the corner of the door. Closed my eye just in time.

You should of changed the gas line too, for peace of mind, but good job!

If u don't want it to flood your laundry room next time, put a pan with an exterior drain in it

Code requires two straps. But good job. Oh, and fuck the permit that is just as much as the water heater.

Did you connect the T&P valve or leave it as last pic? Looks like it might connect to the copper flex line in pic.
