I have a diverter and if it’s slightly up or down I can’t turn. If it’s shooting straight back it turns just fine. Any ideas of what to look at? Does it under way and on the trailer

I'd check to see if the cable end is binding. (Spherical pivot, heim joint deal) If it's corroded, it may bind when at an angle. Also check that nothing is making contact inside the hull when angles are changed.

My Caribbean did that as well. Replaced the steering cable, also ended up getting a 2 inch longer one to make the cable routing a little more smooth as the previous one looked like it was short and made a couple hard turn when going from the steering wheel to the transom. Oh and also cleaned up the pivot joints on the nozzle itself along with the nylon bushing on the nozzle pivot. Now its effortless to steer and full down or full up trim
