Went out to do a little storm chasing once I saw the storm moving into Havasu Thursday evening. I drove out to the island near the shore of the lake and waited. Wow! I got pounded out there. It was so much fun. Here are some photos I captured.

thanks everyone, pretty much since Thursday night there hasn't been any lightning at night in Havasu. Was hoping to get out and take photos again tonight but the storms that popped up in the day time die out when the sun goes down due to not enough heat to fire up the clouds at night.

Beautiful shots. I was driving in Thursday night and could see the storm all the way from Barstow. I finally hit it just west of Needles. The bottom fell out....it was crazy!

I witnessed the storm move over Needles, the lightning that evening over there was off the hook!

Awesome shots. On our way in we were driving through the storm. We actually saw a lighting strike on a building (old Walmart). Never seen that. Only shot I took was an aftermath. :)

ouch that sucks. Lightning again here last night for hours. Was kinda distant but I got a few photos from my roof top with power lines in the photos. Recorded 0.10 inches of rain last night. But the lightning was just nuts to the North and East of Havasu. Tons of weather alerts sent from the NWS all night.

At the south end of the lake (Black Meadow, Sand Point & Havasu Springs), 2 enormous classic dark "anvil shaped systems approached" with the sun shining into them. Their elevations appeared to be 40k plus. As the sun sat below the horizon, their tops turned pink and the mid sections became an unbelievable dark red. Curious if anyone got that shot? Unfortunately, we did not.

I was on the island when that cloud rolled over me. Here are some more photos I took of it as it approached me.
