Hey gang, Heading to State line this Sunday, my overnight stop heading to Orange County from Boise, ID.
I have NOT been to any casinos for at least two years, I've seen some threads here about Vegas, Tahoe and Laughlin but wondering what to expect at good ol' State Line. Even in the best of times this place (and Buffalo Bills) were not exactly 5-star accommodations, just wondering if I'm heading to a rat hole or what. Just need a place to crash for a night, have a few drinks, get a bite and gamble a bit before heading out Monday morning.
This may be a dumb question but are casinos now smoke free? (due to Covid) and wondering if there is a mask mandate inside as well.

Thanks

Yes on the mask mandate unless you are actively eating drinking or smoking .

State Line casino's have really gone down hill, I'd skip it, and stop at the South Point instead.

I was just in State line for the Mint 400, there was no food available at Primm besides their terrible buffet, and I suspect Whiskey Petes was the same. The hallways and rooms are just OK at best. Not the same fun those casinos used to be 10-20 years back.

Southpoint or Silverton...I was at Silverton after a wedding in September and they were not mask nazis at all. Last time I had their buffet it didn't suck either.

Thanks for the heads up, I heard state line casinos and hotels have gone down hill....not that they were all that great anyway. I forgot about Silverton and Sandpoint, and that's what, just about 45 minutes from state line so I really am not that much farther away.

Was in Vegas last week for a race. Got yelled at for not wearing a mask. UNLESS you're drinking or smoking. So have a beverage in hand. STupiddd

South point is where you should stay if you are towing something. They have a big oversized lot that has security.

Buffalo bills is shut down.
Primm is a rat hole.
Stayed there while working in the area for probably 6-8 weeks all together this year.
Total mask nazi security guards, they’ll yell at you if it’s even just below your nose.
The pizza stand is open Thur - Sunday.
The little restaurant is OK food but total disaster for service, with closed sections for covid spacing.
I basically quit that job just to get away from that place. Lol
I’m not sure if Pete’s is even open for rooms? The casino is open.
But weekends are a disaster at Primm.

But for just one night it’s survivable, especially on a Thursday.

Just stayed at the M for the Mint400 a few weeks ago, other than it being the "Offical" hotel of the raiders it was a nice property, and unless you stay on a Saturday before a home game rates are good. It right on the edge of LV even before the Southpoint and much nicer imo.

Just stayed at the M
We love the M. I was going to mention. Feels like you are in much more of a lux setting than almost anywhere in Vegas. Food is great.

I listened to you guys and booked a room at South Point. I don't drive at night, and I get tired after 10 or so hours of driving PLUS- I love to gamble so spending the night at a casino is right up my alley. I may hit some bad weather leaving Boise and then into Salt Lake and through Utah so I will be a bit frazzled by the time I hit Vegas, I will need a beer (or two) Besides, I am in no hurry and not towing anything. Thanks for the heads up and South Point tip!

Of the two Buffalo Bills looked to have the bigger parking lot.

Never been a fan of the place.

I’d sooner pull off here

And break out my bbq and sleep in the truck!

Let this sink in for a bit. You can only remove the mask that does nothing to help you if you are going to engage in something that will absolutely kill you.

remember logic ?
So whats your point ? All i did was answer his question . I didnt say i agree with it .

We stayed at Primm valley on the Havasu to stateline off road run!

Hotel SUCKED! Casino has gone way down hill!

walking into the hotel from parking lot there were DARK / Black stains on brown carpet from all the foot traffic that has walked into over the years!
It’s absolutely gross!

it’s not clean all!

How’d you like the almost totally black foot trail down the middle of all the hallway carpeting?

Not far from Southpoint is an Italian restaurant called Bootleggers Bistro. It really is a bit of old Las Vegas. Excellent food. Reservations are always a good idea. If you find yourself there on a Monday evening, the band appearing in their Copa Room is outstanding. A 15 piece group called Santa Fe and the Fat City Horns. Rock, Jazz, soul, funk etc. Best deal in Vegas.

We’ll by now you realize it’s a shithole. Lock up your car and don’t leave anything inside that can be seen. Hope you don’t have to piss test for work, because you’ll piss dirty from the contact high from all the trash smoking weed.

The steakhouse inside the casino was nice. It’s too expensive for all the ghetto birds that were staying at the hotel.

Stayed at Whiskey Pete’s many years ago for some ungodly reason and wife and I were laughing at the decor as we were going down the hallway to our room. Once in we noticed mirrors above our bed. Felt like a Brothel. Funny shit. I did enjoy the mirror though 😉 but what a POS.

Ughhh, after reading some of your posts, glad I reached out to the RDP folks and got educated on State Line. What a shame, used to be the first place we would hit up when driving into Vegas but after what you guys said, place sounds disgusting.
Looking to forward to South Point, it will be a first for us, let's hope the gambling gods are nice to us.

Follow up- THANKS FOR THE TIP!!
Stayed at South Point at the advisement of the RDP crew and it was really nice (a bit smokey- but it's a casino) 11 restaurants to choose from, ate at a few and were very good (the seafood place that looks like a bar was great) The room was VERY clean and the access to the 15 fwy was perfect.
The slots were tight but made some cash at the tables for once. So all in all, a great overnight stay on my way to So Cal.

The "Mask Mandate" was in effect, everyone was masked but didn't really bother me as I was drinking beer non stop.

And as for Primm and State Line, very sad. looks like most casinos are shut down/closed- Primm Casino and Whiskey Petes are open (at least for the moment) Again, I am NOT a Vegas fan (more a Laughlin/Tahoe guy) so the South Point was a perfect fit for me and the wife- thanks again to the tip.

Went to Vegas last weekend for a memorial, its been 20 years. Stopped at PRimm like the old days, the first thing i noticed as walking in was that smell you got as a kid when your pops was taking a shit before work and having a couple smokes and you had to use the tub before school. I took a piss and left lol
