Probably no worse than the napkins stuffed in right now.
I have some of those.

Go to you audiologist and have custom earplugs made. They take a mold of your ear canal and use that to cast the plugs. Way more comfortable and they do a better job than any one-size-fits-all solutions.

I always hand out sets of foamies to my group. Simple and cheap. Plus you can still hear the tunes pretty well, but the plugs knock down the high notes.

Silicone ones are also available, but really knock down the sound so you can't hear much.

I have a few different foam type. I forgot them last night, so it was napkin rolling time. Did the job, but looking for better. I'll have to contact my ENT at Kaiser, see if they do that. My left is is almost gone, but the tinnitus really gets agravated with certain freqs. I want to protect the right but still be able to hear.

So between the years of shooting, DJ'ing, and going to a ridiculous number of punk shows, my hearing is pretty rough and i'm trying to save what I have while still enjoying shows (one of the few things I really really love)

Any normal ear plug will protect your ears, but at the cost of the fidelity of the sound obviously. What you need is a plug that filters out the bad, but allows the good though.

I've been using these plugs for a while and have been happy with them. So they offer them in different DB ratings, depending on what you're doing. I pretty much only use them these days for smaller indoor venues. Those are the ones that seem to really get me the most. I feel like I grabbed the Blue ones

I did that when we did boy scout shooting. I'll try some foamies tonight. Church festival Huey Lewis and Aerosmith cover bands. I used to use brown del taco napkins cuz they blended in with my ears.
