Mine gets hot too on steep grades but i am towing way more . My camper is a 20 foot nobo that is 24 feet long and is 5k lbs louded . Also way more truck weight 4 people and a need full . On a scale i was about 11500 loaded . Also i did have to floor it on a couple steep grades but it maintained 75 mph and i am on 37s . Also look into the banks daringer for a good upgrade option , i do not have it yet

B.S. First, if I just wanted to climb rocks I would have bought a wrangler, not a mid-sized truck. When a manufacturer states you can tow up to a certain amount of weight, you EXPECT to be able to tow that without needing to put on your hazards going up hills in the summer. Why else would you pay such a premium for a Jeep? Especially at the price point Jeep asks for it's trucks (my ecodiesel rubi was close to $70k). And I paid that amount because I thought it could do both.. in all seasons.

I'm going to try a few things:
1. Relocate the horns that block the top right and left of the radiator.
2. Look at upgrading or possibly adding a secondary oil cooler. (maybe https://www.mishimoto.com/jeep-gladiator-performance-transmission-cooler-2020.html if it fits the ecodiesel)
3. Reducing weight as much as possible.
3.1 Replace my front steel bumper with a stubby aluminum one.
3.2 Try and lighten my trailer as much as possible.
3.3 Remove my back seats on trips.
4. Take it super easy on the throttle, go slow up hills when possible.

If that does not do it and I still find I have the same issues, I'll sell the truck.

What’s sad is a dodge caravan probably tows more and has the same “bulletproof” powertrain 😂

Is it just me, or do those torsion bars look like they are going to snap at any minute?

Question for the people who are smarter than me on here, shouldn't he change his oil ASAP with his oil temp getting to 267? I feel like I read something on here that oil really starts to break down over 230?

Pretty much why they bought the little diesel and were expecting it to tow.

Yep that's not end of the world hot, but I'd change it after the trip, especially if the vehicle was new.

I know they are spring steel and do flex, however, I dont think Ive seen torsion bars flex THAT much before. Specially for a trailer that has such little tongue weight.

Right? Mine are straight installed, and my trailer alone weighs more than his whole set up, combined!!!

What engine does that POS have in it anyway?? I'm too lazy to look it up. :p

When I was trailer shopping a lot of those mid size trailers are built to the ragged edge of the mid suv 5000lb towing capacity. Not including gear or fluids. Just because it can numbers wise doesn’t mean it should…

I’ve never advocated for towing beyond the rated towing limits of anything... unlike the people with 20 year old trucks rated for 10k that tow over the rated limit every weekend 😂

So it's ok if I only do it a few times a year?? 😁

Are they not rated at 7500?

I have heard that. Mine stock and with a lift and 37's is a bit of a handful on the highway. I did an adjustable trac bar and adjustable lowers to add castor and that did help. Still the vehicle needs to be driven and in wind etc it will change lanes. Adding a trailer to all of that is stupid in my opinion. But I do have a Super Duty that sits in the garage...

I actually had someone ask me why I don't tow my boat with the Jeep last night. Well the boat is 40 feet and 15k...

While not a solid as the expedition or the BMW. My Jeep did tow my boat a few weeks ago to Laughlin from BC with no problems. It out accelerates and out brakes the expedition. And gets better mpg.

My F350 is too tall for the garage. Both on 37’s…

When you go that big (on the jeep) do you give up a lot of suspension travel? Or are you bottoming out right when the tire hits the fender?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It has a Metalcloak Gamechange 3.5” suspension lift and there’s never been any tire rubbing

It is those 37", and he does not state the rear end ratio??? My 2020 RAM diesel is heavier, I have towed just 5,000. No issues at all up Cajon, towed at 112 degrees, all temps are OK. Its the 37" and too high of a rear ratio I bet. the mileage is insane, I tow a light load every two weeks from Vegas to So Cal, maybe 3,500 pounds low profile like a boat, mileage is 22-24.

I pull often with mine, never seen any major issues. I did install trailer brakes , that helped quite a bit. 🤣
