I hate you.

That little fucker is mint. I would have never swapped it out if I wasn't getting my ass kicked by all the 40's. Lol. Now I have the UGLIEST little Nissan ever. I need to sand it down to metal and repaint it.
I'd like to finally start rigging my mini boat so I'm going to buy an outboard this week.. Looking for a 2 stroke / short shaft less then 150 lbs.
I have heard that you can get an older three cylinder yami and put the 70hp carbs on it and it will wake it up to 60-70 hp.. Any truth to this?
Being that I suck at Craig's list links are appreciated. Pheonix, Havasu, Parker, Orange County, San Diego are fine I will drive to get the right one..

I had one of those little 402's. Nice little engine, but far short of a 50 - 60 hp. View attachment 295766
I think I'll stop by Islander tomorrow and see how things are looking now that the season is winding down.
RD your a machinist by trade, you need to build something like this....

It has potential
As an anchor?
That's hurtful
It was a joke, but it doesn't fit any of the criteria that I need.. I'm sure it will be a nice project for somebody that's into restoring old outboards.

Dave , How about one of these ? 33 hp and 92lbs
Just for a heads up you will not be able to run any SST type of motors they are all 1 to1 gear ratios and you boat is WAY TO HEAVY I went back and read thru the tread and saw it was a 10 footer. The 3 cylinder Yamaha,s are tits but a 2 cylinder Johnson / Evinrude 45 to 60 would work just fine.
How much are they? 33HP the most you can get out of them?
You might want to do some research on that. SST type of motors have no provisions for shifting ie shift shaft, linkage, cable attachments, shift slides etc.Two cylinder 45/60? You can put a fishing lower on an sst fyi

Also exhaust is routed differently if I remember correctly the trim on the sst is a single ram thru the transom with a remote pump.I also think the tower housing on the sst is different than on the fish model. I have a couple Gran Prix tunnels one with a mod 30 Yamaha and one with a 50hp Johnson fish motor both do quite well on the tunnel although I would think the 30 would be way to small on your 10er
The yomoto would have the same issues as far as trim and shifting problems. Yes they will push a C hydro or runabout @ 100lb wood race boat but think it would come up way short on a heaver V bottom. There is also no Elec start on the yomoto
Correct, the trim ram goes through the transom, ie hole. It's not a good design for sitting around and floating with a beer.
mercury made a "big foot" 40 hp for awhile,(mid 90s) oil injected, built strickly to race in a stock outboard class. it was basicly the 75/60 hp motor with 1 less carb and a restrickter plate. they also have a hd bottum end. we had one years ago, we gained 6 mph by pulling the restrickter plate. i would look for one of those.
He needs something under 150lbs and he wants more than 40hp.
and does not want to spend a fortune
And it has to closer than a three beer drive.
