I have been a guy that always buys projects and dumps money into them to make them new again. Houses, cars, boats etc. I bought a RZR that needed some TLC but the more I priced it out the more it made sense to buy one some else dumped money into and babied. Once I was about to start my RZR build on my 2015 this 2017 fell into my lap. I ran the numbers and I just couldn’t turn it down. I’m going to fix a few things on the 2015 and sell it but here’s my new one. (RZR novice here by the way so I’m learning as I go with the desert toys)

That is a nice pickup. If the numbers made sense, this way a smarter decision.

I think when I sell the other I’ll be out of pocket about 4K to get this one.

You have way more than $4k in mods there. It looks to have shocks, springs, Cage, aftermarket wheels and 32” tires, exhaust, bumpers, lights and other dodads.

Put an intercom in it, get a spare tire, put some radius rods on it and go.

EDIT - and change all the fluids, fix any ball joint or suspension bushing slop, grease the wheel bearings and check out the clutches. Add round rollers to the secondary clutch if it does not already have them.

My stock radius rods failed at 1,500 miles. There are two types of failures - Impact failure, where you strike a rock on the trail and bend the lower or you land hard/sideways and bend the upper. The other, which is what I experienced is that the end of the radius rod will oblong which allows all kinds of slop at the spherical joint.

Congrats on the new ride!

Do you guys have a brand you would recommend? Seems like a lot of options.

He makes them, buy his. Dirt Specialty Products.

If you bend a radius rod badly it will also bend the shock shaft, and the trailing arm, rendering the car undriveable and expensive to fix.

With radius rods you will likely just bend the trailing arm, and the car will still be driveable and cheap to fix.

What a nice upgrade! Car looks like a great start!

Radio intercom w/ headphones or helmets with a blower

rear radius rods

check for wear on tie rods ball joints etc wearable links, or carry a back up

Our windsheild friend and fellow member @dspracing makes all 4 for $50 more.

Personally I have never felt like I needed the high clearance radius rods out in Havasu, but it is not a bad idea. I really try to avoid the boulder sized rocks that will bend a wheel, front arm or rear radius rod anyway. Be aware, in mid 2017 Polaris updated the hardware on the radius rods to 12mm bolts from 10mm. You can check what size you have by putting a wrench on the bolts. If your radius rods use a 15mm socket, you have 10mm bolts, if it takes an 18mm socket, you have 12mm bolts.

I want to say on the 2018+ XP cars (turbo and non turbo) all had the stronger (thicker) radius rods from the factory. An upgrade for those cars is less critical.

To your question I think those will work, just keep an eye on the heims, they will get sloppy over time, but that goes for any of the adjustable radius rods.

Do they squeak?
SATV sent me new heim joints but they still squeaked.
Tried all kinds of lubes and nothing lasted or worked
Literally gave the rods away and went back to stock

I have the same ones he does as well, They are the billet aluminum ones. We bought them when they were $199, they are $399 these days.

They squeak a little bit, but, it is not bad. Mine are due for a heim joint replacement.

I bent one of my radius rods and after looking at a bunch of options I'm going with ZRP.
