Helping dad clean out some shit he will never get to. Doesn't know if he's ready to part with the Hilborn yet but wants to know if it's worth anything these days. BBC rectangle port. Been sitting on a shelf for years.

Prices are all over the place. But it will need completely gone thru so won’t bring top dollar. I would say $2500 as is. But I’m a nobody.

I have to same intake and 2-2500 is what I have seen them go for. When I first got mine I did a bunch of research and this intake was designed for a 396-427 motor, it has smaller butterflies, like 2.75" or something, not 3". Also, this intake has the 2 sides tied together which is good because it helps prevent warping and keeps the shafts from binding. Some of those early Hilborns were prone to problems.

Is it as simple as it looks? Looks like fuel runs at all nozzles all of the time and fuel volume changes with throttle position.

Pretty much, except the fuel flow jets are in bypass valves that return to the tank. Normally there are three. Main bypass, low speed bypass and high speed bypass. Mechanical fuel injection is also opposite of a carburetor when changing jets. Larger orifice size of the jet equals leaner and smaller jet equals richer. It really fucks with guys heads that are used to dealing with carburetors!:D

And, fuel volume changes with pump speed pressure. The hi speeds have a spring that opens at a certain pressure to bleed off excess fuel. And if you want to add more to the fray you can add a electric valve to the bypass to manually lean’er out or connect to a MSD type controller to change afr for your needs. On the shift etc. then you can also add a “ dial a jet” so you can adjust the mixture from the seat. And then…

Yea, Dial a jet a fuel return designed by a piston manufacturer. ;)
