looking for ideas to drag behind the quad. I am thinking maybe a steel gate or a couple of truck rims with a few railroad spikes welded on hanging down an inch or two. lay some sand bags or rocks on it for weight and BAM! Any better ideas? I have a lot next to my shop I need to work over.

...6’ of chain from quad to...6” I beam(at about a 45* angle to the side)...9” of chain to 1” angle...6” chain to 1”angle...angle iron faces down...9” of chain to 6’ of chain link fencing...
...This kept my 3/4 mile long driveway open for 15 years before I had to hit it with a D4 again...

On the cheap a 2x6 or so with 3/4 inch bolts and sand bags on top might work depending on soil

A 6x6 piece of chain link fence with some sand bags on it is about the best I could find to drag behind a side x side you can adjust the sand bags for weight, might have to make multiple passes to get what you want, wire a piece of pipe to the front to keep it strait and two chains to each corner

Welded this up in an afternoon from some 2” square tube & pre-cut triangles from industrial metal. Got the idea from churchill downs horse race track watching the track groomers.

I pull with my beater truck or rhino. Way more maneuverable behind the rhino.

I have some 8’ wide 11ga chain link if needed. I’m sure I have scrap lengths over 6’.

11' wide 4' + in length. I pull it with a compact tractor or with my 7.3 Ferd.

I will look for a photo or take a photo when I head back home later in the week or next.

A 37 foot drag? Holy cow. What did you pull it with?

Made one of these out of some 4x4s and big lag screws. Added some cinder blocks for weight. Pulled it behind a riding mower

Go to Gearmore site to get ideas and dimensions They have small attachment for compact equipment. You can get ideas like a smaller Gannon box

I do believe that I can get my hands on 15' or narrow gage RR track. Where are you located?

I bought one of these. Local guy on cl. $135. Put a crate on it to add weight. Best $135 I’ve ever spent. Also used a very old box spring mattress frame (no cloth) to grade our driveway.

Just buy a heavy gauge 4 x 8 sheet of expanded metal and hook a chain to it about 2 feet from each end and bring it to a vee so that it can't slide on the hitch pull point. Depending on which side you face down you will either scarify the top soil or smooth it and it will level the grade if you just drive in circles and keep offsetting your circles by 4 feet. They call it spinning out your grade. :D

Here you go Kevin @Flying_Lavey . Second pass in the road today to get rid of those stutter bumps.

Even played a special song just for you. :D

I'm trying to convince the mother-in-law's boyfriend to let me weld those rails up and add some weight but he keeps insisting that is the way they were when they used them to smooth the road before.

Tough life out here in the Arizona Outback. I found this poor guy laying about the property today. I imagine he snuck through a fence and couldn't find his way out. Sad to think he died from lack of water. :(

I used to leave water out but the cows would break through the fences to get to it, not to mention the skeeters!

With the rain we've had the skeeters are out in force but this time I'm prepared! :D

I have some track for you if you want it. You can make your own drag any way you want to.

I also have a drag you could have if you think your Chevy could pull it. The drag measures 8' in width and 20' in length.

Different types are needed for different situations. What might have worked for him a few years ago does not mean it will work on the same surface today.

Here is some track that you might be interested in. The smaller gauge track is about 18' in length.
