Please DO NOT do your own Hot Mop shower pan!!! (We have enough threads on RDP of people getting injured!!!! or Death)

Roofing asphalt melts around 250-350 degree (depending on which asphalt you purchase) normal operating temp is 500 degrees...

PLEASE HIRE A PROFESSIONAL for this work!!!!!!!!

420HOA - YOU ARE NOT A HOTMOP SHOWER PAN PROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!

Where are you at? Do you want to finish one? I've got the walls done and just have the pan left to do, I'd do it but due to the small confines my knees just can't take it.
I just saw this! I'm in norco but all over so cal for work. I'd be happy to wrap up your shower pan or possibly bathroom. Pm me!!although with Kerdi the pan is set first! Much better then hot mop as the walls are waterproofed as well as the pan.

I used Hovis Shower pans out of Temecula for my house, very nice guy that does good work. As RMARION said do not try it yourself, I'm a roofing contractor that owns kettles & I gladly paid Hovis to do my shower pan.

The Kerdi product works great when installed correct.Don't use the Kerdi foam pan !!! They are junk and the cost is way high for what you get.Use deck mud with the Kerdi tile in drain. Not to knock the hot mop guys but i have torn out many old hot mopped showers and a lot of them are cracked and leaking.Seems like the dam fails first in a lot of them.Over time the mop gets harder and harder. If its a mobile home there is to much movement and things crack more so then a slab home. What i like about the Kerdi is that the membrane sits on top of the deck mud keeping any water from penetrating the mud bed.Kerdi has been around for years and mostly used in Canada and the east coast. It has been a proven waterproofing system if installed correct. When using the Kerdi drain doing a mud bed is pretty effortless and is a lot cheaper then any kind of pan.Why let the water penetrate the mud bed with a hot mop or a under deck membrane ??? I think stopping it before the deck would be more practical...My 2 cents

Every hot mop pan I have had installed or installed myself was over the deck mud that is pre sloped. Once mopped floated then tiled.

I have torn out plenty that have failed. Only a few were done right and there was so much movement causing it to crack not sure of any product that would of held up. Torn out plenty where the 30 year old wood under looks brand new.

I actually passed one of the hot moppers earlier on Crenshaw. He kicks ass out of the few others from his CO but they all do a great job.
